VistAbility is a non-profit agency serving Contra Costa County working to enhance and enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. 

The Supported Employment Assistant works closely with the Supported Employment team to effectively serve all participants in the Supported Employment Program in Richmond. This includes individuals referred, those in the assessment phase, the job development phase and those requiring job coaching, working
with individuals who are receiving new or on-going support.

This position also assists in providing on-the-job coaching and hands-on guidance to adults with disabilities working for employers throughout Contra Costa County.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated success in the ability to provide guidance and support to direct service staff, as well as problem solving skills.
  • Ability to take initiative and complete assigned tasks, while remaining flexible to a changing schedule.
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities.
  • Proficient, professional verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills required.
  •  Basic computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, data entry and internet usage required.
  •  Four (4) year degree in a related field strongly preferred. Experience may be substituted for education.
Essential Duties: 
  • Completes all Individual Habilitation Service Plans (IHSP) paperwork related to program plans as required by funding agencies with input from the person served, including:
    • Formulation of objectives to meet individual goals
    • Formulation of specific plans to meet the objectives
    • Modification of initial program plan as needed
  • Schedules, notifies participants, chairs and documents all annual and semi-annual conferences.
  • Provides guidance and support to Job Coaches regarding methods of program plan implementation.
  • May assist in direct services, including, problem behavior intervention, crisis intervention, advocacy, grievances, discussion of program plans, and counseling.
  • Discusses plan with family, case managers, etc as appropriate.
  • Substitutes for staff as required.
  • Evaluates, provides job coaching, follow along, and support services to the individuals served,
    as assigned.
  • Compiles quarterly program evaluation data.
  • Establishes and maintains client case files.
  • Enters SEP computer data and retrieves computer reports.
  • Prepares SEP referral packets for funding agencies, and completes paperwork to initiate
    services.
  • Assists in obtaining and developing job sites, by searching community resources and internal
    availability.
  • Assists with all interviewing and pre-hire requirements for community placements.
  •  Conducts inquiry meetings with individuals interested in services.
  • Schedules and sets up 1 day, 40-hour and 6 week assessments. Completes thorough
    assessment reports for Department of Rehabilitation as well as the billing and timesheets for
    each assessment
Minimum Requirements include:
  • High School diploma or GED, solid verifiable work history
  • Valid CA Driver’s license, car to use for work purposes and good driving record required.
  • COVID-19 Vaccination - subject to religious or medical exemption requests
  • Indoor masking is required at all program sites when in contact with any staff and/or participants
  • Must have own car. Mileage reimbursement provided.

Location: Richmond

Hours: Monday – Friday: 8am-3:30pm Some variation in days and hours may be required.

Compensation: $18/hour plus the following benefits:

Medical, Dental, Life and Long Term Disability Insurance, 403(b) retirement plan,
Paid vacation, Sick Days, and 11 paid Holidays plus a paid "holiday" on the employee's birthday.

Our vacation accrual rates are generous: 1st and 2nd year of employment = 2 weeks vacation a year; 3rd and 4th year of employment = 3 weeks vacation a year; 5th to 9th year of employment = 4 weeks vacation a year; the 10th year onward = 5 weeks vacation a year.
