Ranger Die is seeking a CNC Lathe Operator & Programmer to join our team.
Ranger Die is both a tool and die shop and metal stamping facility, supplying tooling and parts to the automotive industry. The CNC department functions mainly within the tooling side of the business, machining steel components for die builds. The nature of this work creates many opportunities for learning and growth as most parts are one-offs.

The CNC Lathe Operator & Programmer is primarily responsible to program and operate Okuma and Hardinge lathes. Candidates must have at least two years of CNC experience, preferably with CNC lathes, and knowledge of Esprit Cam is a plus.

This is a night shift position, working 4:30 pm - 3:00 am Monday - Thursday, with overtime sometimes available as extended shifts (no Friday work).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Write CNC programs and modify existing programs to enhance efficiency.
  • Know and understand priorities when moving to the next job for the machine; review detail sheets before moving to next job.
  • Set up machine correctly: clamping, indicating, and picking up properly.
  • Observe machines on simulation runs to ensure that programs and machinery will function properly and produce items that meet specifications.
  • Enter accurate job and time information.
  • Perform preventive maintenance of machinery including greasing and oiling hydraulics; blowing out filters; cleaning chips out of the machine; etc.
  • Monitor machinery during use for proper functioning; monitor and replace cutters, inserts, and wire as needed.
  • Inspect parts after machining and measure to ensure parts are within specifications.
  • Ensure speedy changeover to minimize downtown on machines.
  • Economize on supplies and consumables to minimize waste and follow procedures for recording scrap (parts machined incorrectly).
  • Notify the CNC Manager timely of problems that will prevent the normal completion of duties.
  • Maintain the work area, equipment, and tools in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education – High school diploma or equivalent
Experience – 2 years CNC operation experience
License(s)/Registration(s)/Certification(s) – must be able to successfully complete training to receive permits for both forklifts and overhead cranes
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities – basic math skills; ability to read and write English; ability to judge spatial relationships and use logic (common sense); analytical skills; mechanical inclination; ability to work well with minimal direct supervision, ability to work well with others; effective time management skills; attention to detail

Pay is based on experience; the range for this position is $18.30 - 23.95. Night shift premium is 10%.
