The Research and Development Scientist for Robinson Pharma, Inc. is responsible for creating soft gel, tablets, capsules, powders, and liquid products to meet the requirements and specifications set by customers or Contract manufacturing and International division.  They ensure that the products he/she develops are processed without incident due to the formulation of the product. 
 

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Monitors the manufacture of all products to ensure that they can be processed to meet specifications
  • Makes and document on a deviation record any necessary adjustments made
  • Maintains record of developments of each product providing a trail or history of the development of each product.
  • Modifies existing formulation to improve reproducibility and reduce the cost.
  • Develops and supports to design a new soft gel continuous drying system to reduce drying time from 2-3 days to less than 24 hours and cost reduction by 1/3 rd.
  • Introduces new raw materials with trade mark and patented material with science and clinical study was done for new products.
  • Evaluates new equipment for blending ingredients for each product.
  • Develops new gelatin formulation to reduce drying time by changing ratios and make it firm capsule and reduce ribbon thickness to cut down the gelatin cost.
  • Develops new Omega 3 and Garlic soft gels to enteric coated from lab scale to the production scale and work with the engineering group and Color Company.
  • Introduces Laser Marking machine to the new and elegant capsule and logo with characters on the soft gel capsules.
  • Develops color and flavors for products to ensure they meet customer specifications.
  • Works with account manages and new customers to help support for developing brand new formulations and other pertaining subject such as Nutritional facts and Supplements facts to verify with their labels. 
  • Write up label page and detailed manufacturing instructions for production for medicine and gelatin department.
  • Writes master batch formulas as required by FDA and follows protocol for validation of Dietary supplement and Nutraceutical products.
  • Occasionally Domestic/International travel required.
QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • 20 + years experience in manufacturing drugs or dietary supplements with at least 10 years’ experience in the formulation of product or technical services to manufacturing. 
  • Ability to work well with others in a group, cooperate with others
  • Ability to think and take constructive action at work without being urged
  • Demonstrates awareness of Robinson Pharma’s safety policies and procedures
  • Must be familiar with FDA’s current Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
  • Well organized and strong attention to detail

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Master Degree in Chemistry or Pharmacy
  • Experience with FDA regulatory issues a plus.
  • Thoroughly familiar with FDA, EPA, OSHA and CGMP’s and SOP’s compliance.
  • Must be familiar with the FDA’s current Good Manufacturing Practices
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing drugs or dietary supplements
  • 2+ years of experience in the formulation of product or technical services to manufacturing
