Skid Steer Operator, Asphalt

CLASSIFICATION: F/T, Non-Exempt (Overtime Eligible)
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager

Summit Materials is looking for a mechanically inclined, safety-oriented Equipment Operator to regularly operate multiple pieces of equipment. This position is critical to the safe, responsible, and productive operation of various equipment to include skid steers, asphalt rollers, and service trucks. Additional duties may include performing equipment checks, general labor related duties and maintenance as needed.

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Responsible and safe operation of equipment
  • Maintain mechanical functions of equipment as needed
  • Maintain neat appearance of equipment
  • Replace, assist, or act as back-up to other roles on the asphalt crew
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and protocol
  • Attend safety and operations meetings and trainings as directed
  • Comply with all Federal, State, and Corporate policies
  • Additional duties assigned by leadership.
  • Perform repetitive and continuous functions
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift 50-85lbs with or without assistance
  • Occasional climbing, kneeling, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and squatting.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous heavy equipment and/or skid steer experience, preferred.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities and objectives successfully and safely.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside daily / year-round.
  • Read, comprehend, and write the English language.
  • Ability to respond quickly to hazards and safety concerns.
  • Meet and maintain company background and motor vehicle record standards.
  • Complete and pass a pre-employment Fit for Duty based physical.

The compensation details aligned for this specific position are as follows:
  • Base Hourly Rate: $17-18.00 / hour (Overtime eligible)
