TERMINAL OPERATOR III DETAILS
Continental Cement is currently seeking a Terminal Operator III to join our team. Our Terminal Operator III is responsible for hands-on operations of the terminal equipment and daily operating functions.  As a Terminal Operator III this role is expected to be able to provide support to and adequately perform the role of an Operator I & II.  A solid understanding of preventative maintenance practices is ideal for the success of the overall team.  Terminal Operator III’s are often site contacts and fill in for managers at times. The Terminal Operator III is set apart due to the added role and responsibilities of supervision over other operators, schedule creation and management for various employees, assisting in budget preparation and forecasting, while also supporting other Continental operations as needed.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES FOR OUR TERMINAL OPERATOR III
  • Responsible for the loading of bulk trucks in a safe, efficient, and timely manner designating which silo is utilized.
  • Ensure that each load is completed to the customer’s specification within legal limits.
  • Perform quality checks and provide excellent service to customers.
  • Process bill of ladings, verify accuracy of paperwork, interpret, and understand readings on equipment instrumentation panels (capable of making PLC programming decisions).
  • Manage inventory and vendors.
  • Participate in formal and informal training programs to broaden both technical and soft skills, cross trains in activities.
  • Responsible for safe, proper use, maintenance/repair, and operation of loading and unloading equipment (compressors, blowers, pumps, vibrators, front-end loaders, man lifts, railcar movers, air valves, pneumatic door openers, boot lifts, hoisting equipment, pneumatic barge unloading, etc.)
  • Adherence to company safety policies; performing work in a safe manner with dedication to open communications, continuous improvement, and overall operations with a goal of ZERO Lost Time Accidents, Medical and First Aid Incidents. 
  • Other key functions of this position include cleaning all areas of the terminal and grounds, obtaining daily/weekly samples.
  • Assist or support other Continental Cement locations as required,
  • Assist in the training of new hires, report generation, compliance with internal control procedures, communicate deviations from established standards.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF A TERMINAL OPERATOR III
 
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, and feel
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, climb ladders, and maintain balance while stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
  • Frequently required to walk on gravel covered surfaces that may be wet and/or in artificially lit conditions. 
  • Frequently move 25-100 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distant, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to bend, use broom, shovel, spade.
  • Ability and willingness to work at heights up to 200 feet.

REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to safely operate, read and comprehend safety and operating instructions, in the English language.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 5-7 years in operations and/or maintenance with previous supervisory experience;
  • 3-5 years of preventative maintenance, operation problem solving abilities/experience.
  • Ability to work a rotating 12 hr. shift based on team and operational demands.
  • Ability to work overtime and holidays as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently, day or night, without immediate supervision.
  • Basic ability to use Microsoft Office Suites.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Exposure to OSHA, environmental requirements.
  • Effective communication skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Preventive maintenance experience.
  • Ability to work in varying climates including hot and/or cold temperatures year-round; in enclosed areas, such as barges, dust collectors and pump pits.
  • Ability to work in noisy and dusty conditions.
  • Ability to operate forklifts and tractors.
  • Travel: 10-20%
WHAT WILL PUT YOU AHEAD
    • Previous Barge loading and unloading experience.
    • Previous knowledge of Maximo or similar preventative maintenance systems.
    • Previous leadership experience
    • Skill sets : Diesel and small engine troubleshooting/repair, Minor welding, Minor electrical, Rigging, heavy equipment operation, Knowledge of the Permit to work system and JSAs, Knowledge of hydraulic and/or pneumatics)
