Senior Software Developer – Research Reservoir Geophysics

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Sinopec Tech Houston is currently seeking a Senior Software Developer specializing in reservoir geophysics software development to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for software development and the creation of virtualization tools within our internal platform, aimed at enhancing the business value of Sinopec Tech. You will play a critical role in developing innovative software solutions for reservoir geophysics applications, with a focus on advancing our internal platform to meet the evolving needs of our business.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead the development of software solutions and virtualization tools within our internal platform, contributing to the promotion of Sinopec Tech's business value.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into software specifications and functionalities.
  • Architect and implement robust data management and communication protocols to support high-performance parallel processing and I/O operations, optimizing software performance.
  • Develop pre-processing and post-processing modules along with intuitive GUIs for software applications in geoscience domains, enhancing user experience and workflow efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of data virtualization and display tools leveraging C++, Qt5, and Python3.0, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of software to ensure reliability, accuracy, and performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Train and support both developers and end users.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
  • Hands-on experience in all phases of software development lifecycle, including plan, design, develop, test, release, maintain and support.
  • Hands-on experience in GUI design and development with extensive C/C++/Python3+ and QT5 experience.
  • Strong technical background in Window or Linux development platforms and expert knowledge using multiple programming languages, C/C++, Python.
  • Experience with reservoir characterization toolkit development in seismic data management and seismic inversion, well log data management and rock physics analysis a strong plus.

MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION, CREDENTIALS, LICENSES and EXPERIENCE:
  • Must have a Master’s degree in computer sciences, geophysics, mathematics, physics obtained from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 5+ years’ working experience in software development.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Some domestic and international travel may be required < 10 %.
