Cordant Health Solutions has an immediate opening for a full-time Research and Development Scientist to join our Tacoma, Washington laboratory.  The R&D Scientist is responsible for planning, conducting and analyzing experiments, either with a definite end use (to develop new products, processes or commercial applications; to improve current applications) or to broaden scientific understanding in general.

Essential Functions:
  • Maintain current methods ensuring consistent quality data and method performance.
  • Develop new methods as needed by the lab for new compounds being added to test menu.
  • Work closely with Operations and Scientific leadership to understand pain points and proactively work to find methodological solutions to address issues in production.
  • Work with Senior Certifying Scientists to ensure validations are complete and up to date and that there is adequate redundancy in validation across instruments.
  • For new methods, ensure detailed SOP and Standard Work documents are written and production staff have all necessary information to have a successful launch.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in hard science field, required
  • Previous method development experience, required
  • Previous experience working in the health or medical field, preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiarity with Agilent LC/MS/MS platform, highly preferred
  • Knowledge of Hamilton STAR operation/programming highly preferred
  • Knowledge of CAP regulations highly preferred
  • High degree of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be a good communicator with a friendly positive demeanor
  • Must be able to communicate and interact with employees at all levels of the Organization
  • Should be resourceful, flexible, and adaptable
  • Have strong problem-solving abilities
