Cordant Health Solutions has an immediate opening for a full-time Certifying Scientist to join our lab teams in either Tacoma, Flagstaff, Denver, Huntington or Worcester.  The Certifying Scientist ensures the legal defensibility of scientific data generated in a technical, high volume, laboratory operation. Duties will include data certification, assay integrity, LC/MS/MS operation, problem solving, enforcement of and compliance to policies and procedures, process optimization, communication and reporting, record keeping and other laboratory operations in a forensic testing environment.

This position will be Wednesday-Sunday 4pm-12:30am. 

Essential Functions:

  • Certify and approve confirmation testing results for reporting
  • Maintain assay integrity and performance to ensure reproducibility and legal defensibility of all results
  • Promptly report concerns to all appropriate laboratory leadership and/or staff for effective feed-       back loop, quality improvement and training
  • LC/MS/MS and GC-FID analysis:  Data processing, data review
  • Review and approve QC validation tests to include: pool tests, internal standard tests, reagent tests
  • Read and comply with: SOPs, regulations, best practices, guidelines, standards, policies and procedures
  • Participate in safety training, follow laboratory guidelines including hazardous materials and waste handling, life safety, medical equipment safety, accident reporting and security
  • Assist with implementation of new technology
  • Personal accountability for attendance, productivity, training, and incidents
  • Collaborate with co-workers, managers and other supervisors to solve work-related problems within or between departments; answering and resolving questions/issues daily
  • Follow work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals, respond to fluctuating workloads, and improve quality and productivity of laboratory operations
  • Participate in employee training for equipment, software and other laboratory operations

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Life Science, with demonstrated knowledge/skills sets in Chemistry required
    • Additional related experience or formal education a plus 
  • Experience with LCMS preferred; pipetting skills desirable
  • Experience as a senior lab tech or analysis strongly preferred
 
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of CLIA and CAP desirable
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems software highly desirable  
  • Knowledge of general lab operations
  • Candidate should be resourceful, flexible, adaptable, able to thrive a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to quickly and accurately handle incoming test flow processes
  • Strong data entry skills via a keyboard (alpha and numeric) required
  • Strong eye-hand coordination
  • Able to handle a high-volume environment while maintaining the highest level of quality
