Working Pattern: Monday – Friday  9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Job Summary The Fleet Engineer (ERJ 175) reports to the Director of Engineering and has the following duties and responsibilities:

 Key Areas of Responsibility
1 Oversight of aircraft system trends and delays
  • Monitor Fleet delay and defect reports for untoward trends, alert, and provide troubleshooting recommendations;
  • Carry out any needed follow out investigation to resolve any untoward trends for resolution into a stable/improved reliability condition;  
  • Provide troubleshooting support to MOC and Maintenance personnel for defects;
  • Liaise with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for obtaining specific troubleshooting recommendations and requirements plus approved repairs.
2 Reliability & Maintenance Program
  • Provide support for ERJ175 maintenance program amendments in accordance with Section 5 of this manual and DPD-315;
  • Prepare and distribute the quarterly reliability reports for ERJ 175 aircraft , participate in the quarterly reliability meetings, and provide recommendations/solutions to improve reliability.
  • Prepares a monthly corporate fleet reliability snapshot and maintains dispatch reliability statistics for commercial presentation to senior management and Air Canada;
  • Liaise/carry out on site visits with contracted Facilities during maintenance checks/structural repairs for approvals of repairs and modifications plus monitor structural repairs to ensure repair files are updated/maintained and appropriate data used.
3 Safety & Regulatory
  • Comply with company training requirements as identified in company MCM and procedures manuals;
  • Completion and submission of SDR reports to Transport Canada and when required follow-up reports.
  • Completion of major modification and repair reports for submission to Transport Canada.
  • Evaluation of Aircraft & Component Airworthiness Directives (ADs) and service bulletins in accordance with Company procedures and advisement in co-ordination with the Planning Department;
  • Monitor and advise management on all aircraft maintenance activities which may have an impact on safety and ensure closure of reports;
  • Identify safety deficiencies and make suggestions for corrective action and assist with the implementation;
  • Support SMS investigations and report on incidents/accidents and make recommendations to prevent a recurrence;
  • Attend safety committee meetings when request by SMS committee;
  • Utilization of the SMS reporting program and adherence to the Safety Policy as well as investigate SMS reports when required;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Transport Canada, Federal Aviation regulations and IOSA.
4 Communication & Manuals
  • Attend internal production meetings and provide technical troubleshooting support, solutions, repairs, and recommendations to MOC and the Maintenance Department on Company aircraft;
  • Support the maintaining of departmental detailed procedures documents for maintenance related procedures;
  • Develops maintenance procedures in support of detailed procedures documents;
  • Liaise with contracted AMO facilities for approvals of repairs and modifications in coordination with MOC;
  • Compile and distribute monthly Embraer data reports;
  • MEL amendment support when assigned by the DOE.
5 Technical Duties
  • Carry out Weight and Balance weighing oversight and preparation of W & B amendment plus Equipment list reviews for accuracy;
  • Development of Engineering Orders and Engineering drawings when assigned by the DOE;
  • Carry out Airworthiness Directive and Service Bulletin reviews, Service Letters, and related OEM data for assessment, and recommendations on company aircraft and update of TRAX computer system;
  • When required, develop and prepare, TSIB, MMIB, MTI’s, Work Order Task Cards, and associated compliance instructions including updates in TRAX computer systemas directed by the Director of Engineering;
  • Provide Technical support to MOC;
  • Maintain a working technical knowledge of the ERJ 175 plus applicable regulations;
  • Assist in the monthly compiling, analysis, and development of maintenance program recommendations/corrective actions in support of the reliability program and trends for maintenance.
6 Cost Saving Strategies
  • Provide recommendations and cost savings strategies based on reliability and procedural effectiveness analysis;
  • Ensure that all maintenance cost savings initiatives recommendations are provided to the VPM and DOE.
7 Other
  • Other duties as assigned to support the operation.

Education, Certifications and Work Experience
  • Fleet engineer experience in either an operator of turbine powered aircraft or with an AMO with a minimum of (5) to (10) years’ work related experience;
  • Preference will be given to candidates who hold an AME Licence M2;
  • Hands on experience on ERJ-175 aircraft an asset;
  • Experience working in TRAX maintenance system and development of EC/tasks cards and reliability module would be considered an asset;
  • Must possess an undergraduate degree at either a college/university level or accepted equivalent;
  • Minimum two (2) years previous maintenance supervisory type experience preferred;
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR’s) and Company policy and related procedures;
  • Authorized to live and work in Canada and obtain a Transport Canada Restricted Area Pass.
