 Job Summary

This position reports to the Manager, Crew Management and coordinates and disseminates information concerning the planning and tracking of pilots and cabin crew schedules.

 Key Areas of Responsibility

1  Scheduling
  • Responsible for day of operation crew tracking for both pilots and cabin crew including formulating recovery plans to ensure coverage of all flights operated by the airline;
  • Monitor all pilot and cabin crew activity up to the point of departure from home base including managing day of operations, next day open time flying and crew availability for the rest of the month;
  • Analyze operational conditions and identify opportunities that may benefit, constrain or impede operational capabilities;
  • Assign /award all pilot and cabin crew open pairings;
  • Administer all planned and irregular crew hotel, air and ground transportation requirements;
  • Assist in reconciling and auditing of crew activity for pay purposes as well as handling pay queries when requested by the Manager, Crew Management;
  • Answer all calls related to scheduling.  Relay and take messages, transfer calls to the appropriate party;
  • Provide policy and contractual interpretations to crew members;
  • Handle all daily scheduling problems that may arise;
  • Maintain daily records for sick calls, lateness and no show for crewmembers;
  • Responsible for insuring that the contract and all CARS are followed regarding  the scheduling of crews;
  • Pull legality reports daily, monitor and fix legalities that may occur during transition;
  • Monitor and approve crew trip trades,  trip drops and any other requests for daily open time;
  • Participate in daily briefings such as the AM and PM conference calls when needed;
  • Pull crew boards daily, and update with all changes that may occur;
  • Draft for overtime reserve coverage and open pairings when needed;
  • Audit all take off and landings into the crew management system;
  • Check in crewmembers for their operating flights.
Policies & Procedures
  • Ensure continual improvement through periodic reviews of documented processes, policies and procedures;
  • Assists in daily audits on all departmental reports including:
    • Shift Report
    • APIS
    • Crew Checklist
  • Ensures Blocking rules & TOE’s for Inflight & Flight Ops are understood and followed;  
  • Awareness and comprehension of government rules;
  • Assists with review of crew efficiency reports and rectifies problems as required to improve efficiency and effectiveness of department including:
    • Over /Under hour reports
    • Ensure trip trades are following procedures
  • Ensure all delays allocated by Supervisor, Crew Scheduling are mitigated to 100%;
  • Ongoing review of processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness of department and provides suggestions to Manager, Crew Management;
  • Ensures compliance with policy procedures and checklists.
Safety & Regulatory
  • Ensure safety is the primary objective by adhering to the CARs and Sky Regional safety policy;
  • Complies with all CARS and regulatory scheduling parameters;
  • Ensure any violations that may occur are cleared up and made legal in advance;
  • Watch for expiries, duty day extensions and ensure all flight crew are compliant with regulations.
  • Effectively communicate IROP impact on crew scheduling to OCM’s through the Manager, Crew Management;
  • Work with the Scheduling M.O.D and Dispatch to re-route crews and planes during irregular operations;
  • Maintain accurate crew reports and work with supporting departments (Flight Ops, Inflight, Planning, Finance & HR) as needed;
  • Provides performance feedback in order to maintain the highest standard of customer service;
  • Ensures flight delays are kept to a minimum and appropriately handled in a timely fashion.
  • Others duties as assigned to support the operation.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, delegation, and initiative and demonstrated excellence in prioritizing and organizational skills.

 Education, Certifications and Work Experience
  • At least one (1) years crew scheduling experience in an aviation environment;
  • Strong knowledge of the CARS;
  • Must be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant;
  • Must be minimum 21 years of age as required by Transport Canada.
