JOB CONTEXT
The Fleet Specialist Engineer reports to the Director of Engineering and has the following duties and responsibilities:

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES

Oversight of  Fleet FHDB and EMU faults and analysis
  • Monitor Fleet E175 FHDB reports plus provide notification to MOC and provide OEM recommendations for FHDB fault rectifications plus create task cards and follow-up for timely rectifications.
  • Carry out any needed follow out investigation to ensure rectifications have been carried out in a timely manner. 
  • Provide Avionics and electrical system troubleshooting support to MOC and Maintenance personnel for Repeat defects and faults.
  • Liaise with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for obtaining specific recommendations and requirements plus approved repairs;
Reliability & Maintenance Program
  • Carry out support for ERJ 175 maintenance program amendments and task research in accordance with Section 5 of this manual and DPD-315;
  • Carry out maintenance task card development support (MTI’s.
  • Assist in maintenance program/task evaluations for effectiveness.
  • Provide reliability recommendation input to the reliability board for the quarterly reliability reports for ERJ 175 aircraft and participate in the quarterly reliability meetings.
Safety & Regulatory
  • Comply with company training requirements as identified in company MCM and procedures manuals;
  • Completion and submission of SDR reports to Transport Canada when required as a backup to the fleet engineer.
  • Monitor and advise management on all aircraft maintenance activities which may have an impact on safety and ensure closure of reports;
  • Identify safety deficiencies and make suggestions for corrective action and assist with the implementation;
  • Support SMS investigations and report on incidents/accidents and make recommendations to prevent a recurrence;
  • Attend safety committee meetings when request by SMS committee;
  • Utilization of the SMS reporting program and adherence to the Safety Policy as well as investigate SMS reports when required;
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Transport Canada, Federal Aviation regulations and IOSA.
Communication & Manuals
  • Attend internal production meetings and provide technical troubleshooting support, solutions, repairs, and recommendations to MOC and the Maintenance Department on Company aircraft;
  • Monitoring of MEL’s in coordination with MOC for timely rectification and identification of repeat defect trends and providing corrective action recommendations;
  • Develops maintenance process enhancements when assigned by the DOE;
  • Backup support for  the Embraer data reports as assigned by the DOE;
  • MEL amendment support when assigned by the DOE.
Technical Duties
  • Backup support for Weight and Balance amendments and Damage chart updates;
  • Carry out regular reviews of OEM data (Service Letters, software updates, and related data) for assessment and recommendations on company aircraft;
  • When required, develop and prepare Engineering Orders (EOs), TSIB, MMIB, MTI’s, Work Order Task Cards, and associated compliance instructions as directed by the DOE;
  • Provide Avionics and Technical support to MOC;
  • Maintain a working technical and Avionics knowledge of the ERJ 175 plus applicable regulations;
  • Assist in the monthly compiling, analysis, and development of maintenance program recommendations/corrective actions in support of the reliability program and trends for maintenance.
Cost Saving Strategies
  • Provide recommendations and cost savings strategies based on reliability analysis;
  • Ensure that all maintenance cost savings initiatives recommendations are provided to the VPM and DOE.

  • Other duties as assigned to support the operation.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:  
  • Must possess an undergraduate degree at either a college/university level;
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regulations (CAR’s) and Company policy and related procedures;
EXPERIENCE:
  • Technical Support or equivalent experience in either an operator of turbine powered aircraft or with an AMO with a minimum of five (5) years to ten (10) years’ work related experience;
  • Minimum three (3) years previous supervisory experience;
  • Preference will be given to candidates who hold an AME Licence M2 and Avionics experience;
  • Hands on experience on ERJ-175 aircraft an asset;
  • Experience working on TRAX maintenance system would be considered an asset;
