Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the Sr. Support Analyst & DBA’s primary role is to provide application and database support to Sky Regional’s Enterprise Maintenance application TRAX.  This Oracle Database and WebLogic based application in a Windows environment requires an individual with strong DBA skills and an ability to understand and troubleshoot complex application and data scenarios both from a technical and end user perspective.  In addition, project management and supporting new functionality implementation will be paramount to this role’s success.


  • Ensure that all database and application operations are running reliability and efficiently to provide 24x7x365 availability including backups and archives.
  • Respond to and troubleshoot application outages with a clear and concise plan to minimize operational disruption and ensure effective customer communication.
  • Provide front line TRAX Application End User Support to diagnose issues and define appropriate resolution steps.
  • Document and log all issues in the Sky Regional Service Desk app to ensure proper tracking and follow-up.
  • Escalate as required to CIO any issues that have an operational impact.
  • Verify database monitoring & maintenance patches are evaluated and installed on a pre-planned basis. 
  • Participate in the analysis and implementation of new application functionality using in a sandbox methodology.  Coordinate upgrades to Production.
  • Develop models for database Infrastructure capacity planning and resource utilization to ensure effective cost control based on leading practices.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to map out project goals and requirements.
  • Build implementation plans inclusive of the technical and business tasks…assign dates.
  • Oversee the project implementation and drive to achieve the desired end result.
  • Review lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
  • Working with your customers, create data models to support the development of Application KPI’s.
  • Build data transformation links to support the population of a BI Database.
  • Liaison with technology vendors to ensure quick issue tracking and resolution.
  • Act as liaison between end users and vendors to work in resolving issues and bugs in a timely manner.
  • Hold vendors accountable for delivery of products and services and ensure SLA’s are met or exceeded.
  • Support CIO on all IT initiatives.
  • Contribute in cost savings by maximizing the use of the applications and database infrastructure to ensure efficiency that can be gained through full utilization of all resources.
  • Identify strategic needs clients may not recognize and ensure that approaches and solutions are linked to client objectives and future needs.
  • Participate in strategic and tactical planning for future IT Initiatives
  • Keep informed of current and upcoming IT trends and their applicability to Sky Regional’s requirements.


  • University or College degree in Computer Science or equivalent technology program.
  • Training and/or certification in Oracle Database applications
  • All other technology certifications will be given considerations.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with an ability to train end users and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Proven track record in managing & fine tuning an Oracle environment; Oracle 12, WebLogic 12 in a Windows based deployment.  Experience with Data Guard would be an asset.
  • Experience in TRAX would be preferred, or comparable experience in supporting a complex enterprise wide application will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of Networking LANs, WANs, VLANs, Wi-Fi, VPNs, MPLS and SDWANs.
  • Knowledge of current protocols and standards including Active Directory, Group Policies, SSL/IPSEC and virtualization.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a similar role is preferable.
  • Demonstrated success in multi-tasking during high stress situations with minimal supervision.
  • Proven ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
