Valley Catholic Elementary School is searching for a full-time Elementary School Library Teacher for the 2025-2026 school-year. We are looking for candidates who are dynamic and innovative and will complement the experienced and committed staff at our school - one which offers a caring and nurturing environment, promotes academic excellence, and emphasizes the education of the whole child. The Library Teacher oversees the K–5 school library program, which involves conducting weekly library classes and maintaining the school's library collection.

Salary Range: $44,290-$63,027 DOE

Applicants should have:
  • Bachelor Degree or Higher
  • Current Oregon Teaching License
  • Preferred:  Library Media Endorsement or equivalent studies
  • Preferred:  Two (2) years of previous teaching experience
  • Preferred: Previous experience as a Librarian, Technology Teacher, or Media Specialist at the primary level.
  • Strong computer proficiency:  basic MS Office programs and ability to learn Contribute (Macromedia) and the features of the online catalog (Destiny by Follett).

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that align with grade-level Archdiocesan library standard
  • Collaborate closely with fellow team members
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills with staff, students, and parents to maintain a positive and supportive learning environment
  • Meet the diverse needs of individual students
  • Integrate the Catholic faith into daily teaching practice
  • Manage student behavior for the purpose of providing an optimal and safe learning environment
  • Communicate library resources and programs to school staff and families
  • Instill and support a love of reading and stories in student
  • Organize and manage a library collection
  • Work with an automated circulation system
  • ​​​​Select, order, and process new resources


Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Position will have periods of extended work week hours, which is required to support both the ongoing development  and the delivery of high-quality education for all students.
