We are seeking an Accounting Specialist who is familiar with Point Click Care (PCC) software for our skilled nursing facility .

This position’s primary areas of responsibility are billing and collection of the Intermediate & Residential Care accounts receivable for the facility; ensuring accurate pre-service verification of benefits for use in billing services to Medicare, Medicaid, insurance companies and private parties; and providing timely and accurate maintenance of Resident insurance, demographics, census and billing records to ensure correct information is available to system users.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Obtain/verify and accurately interpret necessary information regarding insurance eligibility and benefits via telephone or online payer websites (insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid portals).
  • Ensure accurate and complete entry of relevant resident demographic, insurance and census data into facility’s electronic health care system on a daily basis.  
  • Process timely month-end resident billing statements, billings to Medicaid, Part B claims and secondary insurance claims ensuring compliance with appropriate billing guidelines, regulations & third-party payer rules. Follow up on denials/rejections in timely manner.
  • Process payments following appropriate guidelines and post to proper accounts.
  • Resolve outstanding account balances by researching payment discrepancies, correcting account information, coordinating requests for medical records, preparing account adjustments, generating rebills, and any other actions necessary to secure payment in a timely manner.
  • Perform collection activities for assigned accounts including review and analysis of aging report; initiate calls to responsible parties; and clearly document in PCC the payment status of the account and/or actions to secure payment.
  • Respond to in-person, online or telephone inquiries promptly with courtesy, accuracy and respect for confidentiality.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines related to Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) billing and collection.
  • Prepare various source documents necessary to support vendor, insurance and regulatory reporting requirements, including Medicaid and Medicare cost reports and claim audits.
  • Maintain resident trust accounts.
Required qualifications for this position:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three or more years’ experience with Private, Medicare, Medicaid and Insurance billing and collections preferably in a Skilled Nursing Facility.
  • Must have comprehensive knowledge and experience with insurance terminology, insurance contracts and Medicare/Medicaid regulations and billing requirements. Must have knowledge of interpreting Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), posting payments, and adjusting accounts appropriately.
  • Excel and Office intermediate skills a must.
  • Must be a self-starter with great problem-solving skills, detail oriented, ability to organize variable workflow volume, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing as this position requires frequent client-resident/insurance/state contact via in-person, telephone and email.
  • Ability to work as a reliable, supportive, and productive team member.
Preferred qualifications for this position:
  • Prior experience with PointClickCare highly desired.
  • College level accounting courses.
  • College level courses in medical front office/medical billing.
  • Experience in long term care.
  • Understand medical terminology, ICD10, UB-04 and uniform billing.
