The Position:
Reporting to the Provost & Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Shelly Chabon, the Dean serves as a vital member of the University’s Academic Leadership Team (ALT). As the chief academic and administrative officer of the College of Education (COE), the Dean – with the input of the COE Leadership Team – makes recommendations in the areas of budget, curriculum, and personnel. The Dean is responsible for all aspects of the College’s academic programming. The Dean provides visionary leadership in the initiation and development of all programs and the promotion of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and community outreach. In addition, the Dean has substantial responsibility for fundraising. In policy matters, the Dean acts in consultation with appropriate faculty members, but is responsible for all decisions made by the College. In addition, the Dean plays a critical role in advancing all institutional initiatives, including internationalization, diversity, assessment and sustainability.
