Straughan is currently seeking a Noise Engineer/Analyst to join our Environmental Planning Team. Your skills and knowledge of applicable concepts would support studies and design in the areas of acoustics, air quality and sustainability professional services. You would perform work as assigned by business unit director or project task manager in the areas of traffic noise analysis, rail noise analysis, construction noise analysis, noise barrier design, sound monitoring, vibration analysis, and/or air quality analysis. Work would include collecting field data collection, data processing, utilizing noise modeling software, and conducting noise impact analysis. Supporting tasks and services would include report preparation, CAD & GIS usage, construction plan production, construction cost estimation, and/or environmental planning and permitting support.


Qualifications/Experience
 
A successful candidate should have strong written and oral communication skills and some relevant background in Acoustical Analysis, Noise Abatement Design, Air Quality Analysis, Traffic Analysis, Site Design, Roadway Design and/or Rail Noise.
  • Ability to perform field work such as traffic noise measurements, traffic noise data collection, and additional environmental field tasks. Fieldwork may involve walking through wooded areas, working alongside of roadways and carrying field equipment.
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 1+ year of full-time air and/or noise experience (preferred)
  • Working CADD experience, preferably MicroStation
  • Noise analysis experience with the Maryland Department of Transportation (preferred)
  • Well-developed organizational, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office computer software (Word/Excel)
