SealingTech, a mid-sized company in Columbia, Md is looking for a talented Technical Writer to join our team. As a Technical Writer at Sealing you’ll be required to write customer focused documents, training materials, administrator guides, and detailed product documentation. You should have significant experience with and knowledge of Linux-based systems and Open Source products. The ability to ready Python and Bash scripts will be part of this role. Knowledge of hardware and software is needed for success in the position.

This is a full-time opportunity in our office in Columbia, Md. Hours can be flexible and there is potential to work partially from home after an initial training period.


Primary Responsibility:
 
  • Write, organize, and curate technical content about Network Devices, Linux-Based Systems, and other company materials
  • Write and contribute to the stages of product development
  • Write training material for customer use
  • Write internal documentation of materials for engineer use and manager review
  • Write content for technical sales and marketing materials (for both print and web)
  • Contribute to plans for creating new guides as well as editing existing documentation
  • Help create a strategy for company documentation, document organization and assisting teams with knowledge capture

Job Requirements:
 
  • At least an undergraduate degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related subject
  • 3+ years of technical writing experience (publication and writing at the graduate level can be substituted for some experience)
  • Experience with Office 365 with stress on Word, Excel, and SharePoint
  • The ability to read and understand Bash code and Python scripts
  • The basic understanding of a Linux System environment
  • Experience with Enterprise technology
  • The ability to present materials to team members and potential government customers
  • Can travel up to 20% for this role

Desired Requirements:
 
  • DoD, Military, or similar government experience
  • A security clearance of at least the Secret level
  • Advanced knowledge of network systems
  • Experience with DCO programs
  • Past experience creating materials from the ground up
