Core Responsibilities

The key responsibilities for this position are:

  1. Turndown assigned rooms according to departmental standards, ensuring the highest possible degree of cleanliness.

  2. Replace soiled towels and linen with clean ones. 

  3. Restock and place guest amenities, bath amenities, facial and toilet tissue, literature and other collateral.  Ensure adequate supply for arriving guests.

  4. Ensure proper setting, placement and working order of clock, TV, thermostat, light and other fixtures.  

  5. Report any maintenance issues promptly in accordance with departmental and hotel standards.

  6. Inspect all door and window locks to ensure they are in working order.  Alert management to any unsecured or unsafe situation for the safety of guests and employees.

  7. Report any unusual situations such as exceptionally dirty rooms, missing items or room status discrepancies (clean, dirty, vacant, occupied).

  8. Maintain and restock work supplies each day.

  9. Inspect linen before placing it in rooms and return substandard items to the Laundry Department.

  10. Responsible for proper administration of key control for issued keys and keys left by guests in rooms.

  11. Adhere to lost and found procedure, ensuring the proper retrieval and placement of items found upon a guest’s departure.

  12. Maintain respect for guest confidentiality and personal items.

  13. Engage each guest with a smile and appropriate greeting, using the guest’s name whenever appropriate.  Graciously accommodate guest requests.

  14. Make suggestions for improvement in overall operations with an emphasis on increasing guest satisfaction, revenue and cost reduction.

  15. Work in accordance with hotel and departmental safety standards.

  16. Use all hotel equipment safely and properly.

  17. Participate in and support hotel and company efforts towards sustainability and environmental initiatives as part of the Planet Auberge program

  18. Perform other duties as directed, developed or assigned.


Experience Required

  1. One year’s experience in hotel housekeeping or similar position.

  2. High school graduate or equivalent

  3. Basic knowledge of general cleaning principles, use of cleaning products, and operation of standard cleaning equipment.

Experience Desirable
  • Experience in a luxury Resort
  • Bilingual


Skills Required

  •  Ability to speak in English with guests, co-workers and managers.

  •  Ability to read labels, instructions and checklists

  • Confidence and ability to perform under pressure

  • Must like to clean



  • Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.   Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property. 

  • Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.

  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.      

  • Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. occasionally.

  • Vision requirements: constant need to view small print.  Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.

  • Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to the general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
