Job Description

Position Summary:
Trusted Space is seeking a mission-focused and technically adept Mission Engineer to lead technical integration efforts for space-based sensing and targeting missions supporting next-generation defense architectures. This role focuses on the coordination of sensing payloads, data fusion architectures, and space-ground integration to deliver persistent awareness and real-time targeting capabilities in support of joint warfighting operations. This individual will lead the coordination of technical interfaces, data fusion architecture, and sensing modality integration necessary to maintain continuous custody of time-sensitive targets and deliver actionable intelligence to the warfighter in real time.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the technical integration lead for multi-sensor space missions, orchestrating system-of-systems engineering efforts across multiple industry partners, government stakeholders, and technical domains.
  • Support architect development and integration of multi-phenomenology sensing modalities (e.g., IR, SAR, RF, multispectral) and ensure seamless delivery of fused sensor data into the customer’s architecture.
  • Support the definition and implementation of interface control documents (ICDs), system-level requirements, and on-orbit data fusion CONOPS to enable automated sensor-to-shooter targeting.
  • Support the maturation and integration of advanced processing, exploitation, and dissemination (PED) techniques to maintain custody of targets in contested and denied environments.
  • Coordinate across customers, internal teams, and external vendors to support multi-domain solutions and ensure alignment with broader all-domain command and control (JADC2-like) initiatives.
  • Engage in technical reviews, integration readiness assessments, and testing campaigns to validate system-level performance across multiple contributing constellations.
  • Support the transition of R&D capabilities into operational deployments and contribute to our customers’ evolving architecture strategies.
 Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in systems engineering or mission integration, with a strong background in tactical surveillance and reconnaissance, space-based missile warning, tracking, and defense systems, remote sensing, and/or space based sensing of time critical targets.
  • Demonstrated experience with system-of-systems integration, especially involving multi-vendor architectures and multi-sensor payloads.
  • Strong technical understanding of sensing modalities (e.g., EO/IR, RF, SAR), PED systems, and data fusion algorithms.
  • Familiarity with sensor tasking, real-time data transport, and automated decision-making in a JADC2 context.
  • Clearance Required: Top Secret/SCI
Desired Skills
  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Experience with architectures and/or programs within USSF, NRO, MDA, or other DoD agencies.
  • Familiarity with space-based target custody concepts, kill chain dynamics, and tactical sensor-to-shooter mission threads.
  • Working knowledge of MBSE tools, mission simulation frameworks (e.g., STK), and modeling environments for multi-sensor data fusion.
  • Background in space autonomy, on-orbit processing, or AI/ML integration into operational space systems.
