POSITION SUMMARY: Lead Therapist provides all massages and body treatments offered by The Edge Spa and is an integral team member in the operation of The Edge Spa. Lead Therapist supports and promotes the image, service and standards of The Edge Spa. Lead Therapist is responsible for leading and training a team of Massage Therapists.



  • Ability to lead and motivate a group of Massage Therapists.

  • Assist with interviewing, training and performance reviews of Massage Therapists.

  • Assist in establishing individual goals with each therapist.

  • Assure all Massage Therapists start and end treatments on time.

  • Thorough knowledge of menu of services and products.

  • Follow-up Spa manager or Spa and Wellness Supervisors on all comments, concerns and suggestions made by steam members and resort guests.

  • Explain and promote all spa and resort facilities, services and activities.

  • Maintain contact throughout scheduled workday with spa team to communicate additions, deletions, and changes in the schedule.

  • Guide and escort guests to the appropriate area in the spa.

  • Provide all massages and spa treatments as outlined in The Edge Spa treatment protocol manual.

  • Keep work area clean and neat at all times.  Follow sanitation procedures.

  • Arrive on time for a scheduled shift.  Return punctually from breaks and meal periods. Clock out promptly at the end of scheduled shift.

  • Assist other departments within the spa whenever necessary and available.

  • On call for not less than five shifts per week.

  • Attend all spa associate trainings and meetings as scheduled.

  • Available to work holidays, weekends and evenings as needed.

  • Maintain helpful, cooperative relations with co-workers.

  • Adhere to The Edge Spa  associate handbook guidelines.

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining standard of excellence in professional image and services.

  • Use of products within guidelines set in policy/procedure manual.

  • Follow treatment procedures set in policy/procedure manual.

  • Proper use of all spa facilities and equipment.

  • Keep guest and associate areas neat and clean.

  • Perform other duties not listed here as directed, developed or assigned.

  • Attend all resort meetings as scheduled.

  • Ability to maintain calm during busy periods and treat our guests and our colleagues with respect, and work hard together to deliver the highest quality of service to all.

  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision.

  • Professional, polished treatments, etiquette, and protocol skills and knowledge.


  • Utah State Massage Therapy License.

  • Ability to provide all spa treatments as outlined in the protocol manual.

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the human body, understanding of the theory, contraindications and benefits of massage therapy.

  • Ability to work in an environment infused with a variety of scents, such as aromatherapy candles.

  • Knowledge of local culture and activities



  • Ability to make guests as physically and emotionally comfortable as possible while providing services.

  • Ability to drape guest, exposing only the body part being worked on.

  • Ability to learn, remember, provide and adhere to all massage and spa treatment protocols as outlined in the manual.

  • Maintain a well-rounded knowledge of the human physiology, being able to identify a wide range of symptoms and disorders.

  • Ability to assist the guest in selecting services to best aid the guest in alleviating problems or attaining their goals while at the spa.

  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English, both orally and in writing, using correct spelling and grammar, with guests, co-workers and management to their understanding, both in person and by telephone.

  • Ability to provide legible written communication.

  • Ability to input and access data in a computer.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, think clearly and follow up.

  • Ability to focus attention on details.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all guests and resort information.

  • Ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.

  • Ability to always remain calm, centered and focused despite surroundings or personal circumstances.


  • Bilingual:  English and Spanish


Working Conditions: Most tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is usually moderate.  Noise level is moderate.


Physical Demands:

  • Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.   Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting property.

  • Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.

  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time.       

  • Lifting/carrying up to 10 lbs. frequently and 25 lbs. occasionally.

  • Vision requirements: constant need to view small print.  Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.

  • Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on the telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
