ROLE SUMMARY

Our Massage Therapists at The Edge Spa deliver the highest level of nurturing to our guests as they perform noteworthy massage rituals and memorable body treatments.  Massage Therapists will master our tailored massage experiences that align with our storytelling of Luxury with Wild Abandon.  These individuals support and promote our image and the highest level of service standards of The Edge Spa at The Lodge at Blue Sky.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Guide and escort guests to appropriate areas in the spa, providing them the maximum level of comfort and relaxation.

  • Maintain cleanliness of the spa, including full setup and cleaning of the treatment rooms and prep areas.

  • Provide all massages, body treatments, and rituals as outlined in The Edge Spa treatment protocol manual.

  • Maintain helpful, synergistic relations with team members.

  • Explain and promote all spa facilities.

  • Learn and understand what The Lodge at Blue Sky has to offer for our guests, and be readily available to promote any experiences, adventures, or venues our guests inquire about.

  • Communicate with Spa Manager and Lead Therapist on all comments, concerns, and suggestions made by guests or team members.

  • Adhere to The Lodge at Blue Sky handbook.

  • Practice proper use of all spa facilities and equipment.

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of spa menu, services, and products.

  • Appear professional, well-groomed, and in uniform.

  • Follow all sanitation procedures to provide safety and peace of mind to our guests and team members.

  • Be available for on-call treatments, no less than four shifts per week including at least one-weekend shift.

  • Attend The Edge Spa team member training and meetings as scheduled.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Utah State License

  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology, understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the human body, understanding of the theory, contraindications, and benefits of massage therapy.

  • Ability to provide all spa treatments as outlined in the protocol manual.

  • Ability to work in an environment infused with a variety of scents, such as aromatherapy

  • ABMP insurance

  • A genuine affinity for interacting meaningfully and positively with others.

  • Ability to support the spa operations of the property so as to maximize customer satisfaction, team member performance, and business results.

  • Ability to ensure that visitors to the hotel are delighted by the quality, creativity, and variety of our Spa services and that The Edge Spa is regarded as a strong point of differentiation for the hotel in its local market.

  • Ability to maintain calm during busy periods and treat our guests and our colleagues with respect, and work hard together to deliver the highest quality of service to all. 

  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision. 

  • Professional, polished treatments, etiquette, and protocol skills and knowledge.
     

SKILLS

  • Ability to make guests as physically and emotionally comfortable as possible while providing services.

  • Ability to drape guests, exposing only the body part being worked on.

  • Ability to learn, remember, provide, and adhere to all massage and spa treatment protocols as outlined in the manual.

  • Maintain a well-rounded knowledge of the human physiology, being able to identify a wide range of symptoms and disorders.

  • Ability to assist the guest in selecting services to best aid the guest in alleviating problems or attaining their goals while at the spa.

  • Ability to clearly and pleasantly communicate in English, both orally and in writing, using correct spelling and grammar, with guests, co-workers, and management to their understanding, both in person and by telephone.

  • Ability to provide legible written communication.

  • Ability to input and access data on a computer.

  • Ability to multitask.

  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, think clearly, and follow up.

  • Ability to focus attention on details.

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of all guests and resort information.

  • Ability to work cohesively with other departments and co-workers as part of a team.

  • Ability to always remain calm, centered, and focused despite surroundings or personal circumstances.
     

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Frequent or occasional need to perform the following physical activities: reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing. Frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to inspecting the property. 

  • A constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity. 

  • Occasional need to stand for long periods of time. 

  • Lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs. frequently 

  • Vision requirements: the constant need to view small print. Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach. 

  • Hearing requirements: the constant need to speak on the telephone and/or two-way radio, respond to the general public, and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
