Position Summary

The role of a busser will be primarily to assist servers in providing quality food and beverage service to guests, according to resort specifications, courteously and efficiently.  Maintain cleanliness of tables, service areas and equipment. Stock all wares and equipment needed for service. 


  • Maintain complete knowledge of table/seat/station numbers, room capacity, and proper table set-up.

  • Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment.  Use equipment only as intended.

  • Maintain complete and comply with all departmental policies/service procedures.

  • Maintain knowledge of and strictly abide by state liquor regulations.

  • Complete all opening side duties as assigned.

  • Serve non-alcoholic beverages to guests in accordance with departmental specifications.

  • Serve bread and butter to guests in accordance to departmental specifications.

  • Remove and transport soiled wares from tables to the dishwashing area as assigned.  Separate soiled wares and food according to procedures.

  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness of assigned tables.

  • Participate in and support hotel and company efforts towards sustainability and environmental initiatives in alignment with Blue Sky values.  

Standard Specifications: Requirements are representative of minimum levels of knowledge, skills and/or abilities. To perform this job successfully, the incumbent will possess the abilities or aptitudes to perform each duty proficiently. Some requirements may exclude individuals who pose a direct threat or significant risk to the health and safety of themselves, other employees or guests.


  • A genuine affinity for interacting meaningfully and positively with guests.

  • Six months experience as a Busser.

  • Prior experience in guest relations.

  • Experience and adeptness at working cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.

  • (Desirable) High school graduate or equivalent and some college.

  • (Desirable) Certification of previous training in liquor, wine and food service.

  • Professional, polished service, etiquette, and protocol skills and knowledge.

  • Understanding of safe food and beverage handling practices.

  • Understanding of safe handling practices cleaning chemicals.

  • ServSafe and TIPS certification. 


  • Ability to anticipate and understand guests’ service needs.

  • Ability to be well organized, maintain concentration, and think clearly when providing service to guests within any given period of time.

  • Ability to focus attention on details.

  • Ability to follow directions thoroughly and consistently amidst varied interruptions.

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize timing of service tasks seamlessly.

  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests, management and co-workers to their understanding.

Working Conditions: Most tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is usually moderate.  Noise level is usually moderate.

Physical Demands: Frequent need to perform the following physical activities:

  • Reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, lifting, and climbing.   Have frequent need to perform standing and walking activities related to provide food service in the restaurant.  

  • Constant need to perform the following physical activities: grasping, turning, finger dexterity.

  • Frequent need to stand for long periods of time.

  • Lifting/carrying up to 10-20 lbs. frequently and 40 lbs. occasionally.

  • Vision requirements: constant need to view small print.  Frequent need to see small details and things clearly beyond arms’ reach.

  • Hearing requirements: constant need to speak on telephone and/or two-way radio.

  • Respond to general public and converse with staff. Ability to hear fire alarms and emergency equipment.
