JOB DUTIES

The Welding Technicians will be responsible for overseeing the company’s pipeline mobilization, testing, and various training activities for our specialized welding equipment. The main duties will include the following:
  • Mobilizing and testing specialized welding equipment to ensure proper working order;
  • Training and supervision of welders during procedure qualification tests and preparing associated process, procedure, and testing materials;
  • Providing troubleshooting and guidance regarding welding issues during pipeline construction;
  • Operating and adjusting equipment when moving from different pipe wall thickness;
  • Providing supervision and training to junior welders to ensure welding activities are carried out without issue; and
  • Performing other duties as assigned and consistent with the position.

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
  • Completion of secondary school.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience in the trade.
  • Some college or industry courses in welding.
  • Knowledge of welding equipment used in pipeline construction and various welding activities.
  • Experience using the M300 Automatic Welding Machine
  • Experience with Rapid Metal Deposition (RMD) / Surface Tension Transfer (STT) Semi-Automatic systems for improving welding quality and productivity
  • Experience with Cellulose, BVB, TIG and Low Hydrogen Welding process
  • Knowledge of workplace safety requirements (e.g. backing-up procedures, use of spotters, signage, incident reporting, required personal protective equipment, lifting heavy loads, etc.).
TRANSPORTATION / TRAVEL INFORMATION
  • Must be willing to travel to project sites.
  • Travel expenses will be paid by employer.

WAGE
  • CAD 1,200.00 per day
BENEFITS
  • Vacation pay at a rate of 6% of wages.
  • If camp accommodation is unavailable, a Living Out Allowance of CAD$150.00 to CAD$225.00 per day will be provided (depending upon the project).
  • Enrolment in Group Benefits Plan which includes extended health insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and disability benefits.
WORK HOURS
  • 40 to 72 hours per week
  • Monday to Saturday (6 days on, 1 day off)
