Role:                    Housekeeper

Reporting to:     Housekeeping Manager

Role based:        Vanderbilt – Newport, RI

Why This Job Exists:

Responsible for the general cleaning and upkeep of guestrooms and other assigned areas of the hotel.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Clean assigned guestrooms in accordance to Vanderbilt standards (making beds and changing bed linen, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming, dusting, trash removal and disposal, etc.)

  • Ensure that linen, towels, room supplies and amenities are replenished and nicely arranged

  • Clean hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas so that health standards are met.

  • Report maintenance issues to Housekeeping management in a timely and effective manner

  • Perform quality cleaning to meet required standards within set time limits

  • Follow safe operational procedures in regards to use of cleaning chemicals

  • Respond to Guests’ requests in a courteous and prompt manner

  • Performs other duties as requested or deemed necessary by management

Person Specification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Housekeeping and customer service experience highly appreciated

  • Strong organizational skills. Attention to details is a must

  • Able to work well in a team

  • Conversational English is a must. Spanish is an advantage.

  • Honest and energetic work ethic.

  • Appearance must be clean and professional with a cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times.

  • Able to work on a flexible schedule, including week-ends and holidays, according to department needs.

  • Must be able to stand for at least 8 hours and be able to lift up, push, and pull at least 35 pounds.
