Reporting to:     Executive Chef

Role based:       Vanderbilt – Newport, RI

Why This Job Exists:

Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of the dish area, and assisting with the cleanliness of the kitchen. Also, assisting with food preparation as requested by the Executive Chef.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, or utensils in clean and orderly fashion

  • Clean food preparation areas, facilities and equipment.

  • Place clean dishes, utensils, or cooking equipment in storage areas.

  • Store supplies or goods in kitchen or storage areas.

  • Sort and remove trash, placing it in designated pickup areas.

  • Remove trash.

  • Sweep and scrub floors.

  • Clean trash cans

  • Load or unload trucks that deliver or pick up food or supplies.

  • Use safe food handling procedures and maintain a safe-working environment by using proper food handling skills and food safety guidelines.

  • Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

  • Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Person Specification:

  • Ability to multitask and perform efficiently in a fast paced service environment.

  • Able to stand and walk for 8 hours

  • Able to lift up to 25 lbs

  • Professional appearance and manner
