Virtuoso Medical Management (VMM) is seeking a Billing Specialist to join our team! VMM is a medical management company, specializing in medical billing, operations, and human resources for medical clinics and surgery centers. With locations in Thousand Oaks and Santa Monica, we are a dynamic and growing interventional Pain Management practice in Southern California. We take an integrative and comprehensive approach to pain management, offering the latest FDA-approved procedures and treatments for chronic pain with the most educated and experienced physicians.

We are seeking a candidate to fill the position of Billing Specialist. This position requires a candidate who is motivated, organized, and a team-player with a positive attitude.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Enters charges into system.
  2. Post Payments and reconcile patient accounts for three different clients in three different billing systems.
  3. Reconciles the monthly cash logs to client’s specific billing software systems to insurance proper accounting.
  4. Assist in billing Clients on a monthly basis.
  5. Adjust accounts accordingly based on patient’s benefits determined by Verifications and presents to manage accounts that may need further review.
  6. Analyzes and reviews patient statement before billing
  7. On a daily basis runs claims QC report and submits claims by electronic means or paper
  8. At end of month verifies that claims have been filed for all patients and compiles end-of-month reports
  9. On a regular basis, meets with Administrator & Business Office Manager on status of billing and insurance issues
  10. Follows Medicare rules and regulations and updates billing procedures to accommodate changes staying current with insurance contract rate and policy changes
  11. Assists billing personnel and management with preparation of monthly reports and other tasks as requested
  12. Processes over 1,000 accounts each month
  13. Answers telephone as needed
  14. Possesses accurate judgment, especially handling charge and dealing with patient accounts
  15. Runs bank deposits as necessary
  16. Performs other duties as reasonably assigned
  17. Assist in processing all underpayment, short pays and/or denied EOB’s and makes the necessary adjustments to patient accounts for all entities.
  18. May require travel to clinics and surgical facilities within Southern California as needed. Must possess CA driver’s license.

  9. Experience with billing Commercial Carriers, Worker’s Comp, P.I. Lien, and Medicare

Technical Requirements:
  1. Microsoft Suite
  2. Practice Management and Billing software experience a plus
  3. PC computers
  4. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.
  5. Allscripts a plus
