Victor 12 is hiring a Systems Administrator (Linux/Microsoft) to support an ongoing prime contract with the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA) based in Orlando, Florida. This position is a remote/work-from-home opportunity and requires the ability to work East Coast hours between approximately 7:30–9 AM ET and approximately 4–5:30 PM ET.
Job Summary
The Systems Administrator (Linux/Microsoft) works closely with the Program Manager and Lead Integrator to maintain a current installation and administration of Windows Internet Information Services (IIS), Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL), SharePoint On Premise, and Linux RHEL9 environment servers, along with a family of cloud-based applications and databases on hosted servers. In addition, the Systems Administrator (Linux/Microsoft) is responsible for upgrading servers, operating systems (OSs), SQL, and SharePoint to newer versions.
The Systems Administrator is responsible for server operations inclusive of hardware, OS, and utilities on the servers, along with configuration, patch management, version and sub-version upgrades, and all aspects of the availability of servers, apart from Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS)/Government Off the Shelf (GOTS) applications. The Systems Administrator provides Tier 2 response in an operations environment escalated by on-site Tier 1 staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Work with vendors to install, customize, and test hardware and software. Work with development teams to deploy application changes to servers.
- Collect and report performance diagnostics. Provide solution options for performance issues.
- Perform server log maintenance and reviews. Develop/implement backup strategies based on customer review and approval.
- Install, configure, and maintain Active Directory servers, users, and groups.
- Provide recommendations for software and hardware purchases and configurations to maintain server and network currency, to meet requirements, and to maintain National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Risk Management Framework (RMF) Authority to Operate (ATO).
- Provide documentation and evidence support for NIST RMF continuous monitoring.
- Address Nessus findings in a timely manner.
- Create and maintain administrator support documentation.
- Maintain current and accurate inventory documentation of all server hardware and software Government Furnished Equipment (GFE).
- Track service requests received via email, phone, or in-person support.
- Prioritize, track, analyze, and generate reports on service requests.
- Establish secure File Transfer Protocol (FTP) for developers.
- Provide end-user support. Troubleshoot and diagnose problems related to network or server issues.
- Maintain user accounts in applications.
- Coordinate updates and other technical activities for developers and supported users.
- Maintain server and network infrastructure in compliance with policies such as NIST, Federal Information Security Modernization Action (FISMA), and Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years of related experience in Windows and Linux clustered server operations.
- NOTE: Foreign university transcripts must meet accreditation standards by one of two national associations of credential evaluation services designated by the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and the U.S. Department of Education. Submittal of accreditation equivalency must be submitted at the time of application. National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Association of International Credential Evaluators (AICE).
- Server setup and installation skills, as well as server configuration and management in a load balanced environment and Highly Available Virtual Machines (HAVM).
- Strong understanding of and recent experience with networking fundamentals (Domain Name System [DNS], load balancing, firewalls).
- Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V).
- Experience with NIST RMF compliance with Moderate or above profiles.
- Current experience with configuring audit trail collection and reporting tools.
- Administration experience with Apache, LAMP, and PHP environments, Linux RHEL8.x/9.X environments, Windows Server 2019 and above, Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and above, and Microsoft SharePoint Server 2016 and above.
- Current experience with Microsoft Excel pivot tables, functions, and macros.
- Experience with responding to Nessus Tenable reports.
- AWS (Amazon Web Services), Azure, or Google Cloud administration experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a solid grasp of English language.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others and independently with minimal supervision.
- Background investigation, including FBI fingerprint check, and “identity-proofed” identification through authentication of two forms of government-issued identification.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Active security certifications (e.g., Security+ CE, Network+, CCNA, CAP, CASP, or SANS security certification).
- Scripting experience with related OS scripting languages (Microsoft PowerShell).
- Help desk experience, including user support and customer service, for IIS, networks, and platforms.
- Experience working with service management tools like Zendesk and ServiceNow.
- Familiarity with disaster recovery planning and business continuity.
- Experience with administration of Moodle Learning Management System (LMS).
- Ability to be proactive, patient, reliable, and methodical.
