POSITION SUMMARY
The Wisconsin State Fair is seeking a skilled, customer service-oriented candidate to fill the full-time, year-round position of the Crew Leader opening in our Facility Services Department. This position provides leadership to LTE (Limited-Term Employee) crew members regarding the execution of work orders and assigned tasks, related to the cleaning and disinfection of buildings withing the Wisconsin State Fair Park. The role also requires a degree of independent judgement related to these tasks under the supervision of the Custodial Services & Inventory Manager and Senior Director of Facility Services.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
This position is an unclassified, Dual-Limited Term Employment (LTE) position within the State of Wisconsin employment system, working an average of 40 hours per week throughout the calendar year. Annual hours worked will not exceed 2,078.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
The wage for this role will be up to $15.50 per hour, based on qualifications. A comprehensive fringe benefits package, including health and dental insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance is available after a minimum employment period is met. Paid time off for vacation, holidays, etc. is not included as part of the benefits package.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Indoor cleaning includes sweeping, vacuuming, cleaning toilets, cleaning sinks, cleaning mirrors, and pulling/replacing garbage bags.
- Outdoor cleaning primarily including removal of cigarette butts, loose trash and refuse from outdoor trashcans
Shovel and apply de-icing chemicals to sidewalks and stairs, if needed. - Restock restroom dispensers with soap, paper towels and toilet paper.
- Transport & maintain the stock of cleaning supplies, garbage bags, hand soap and paper products in keeping with the Custodian Services standard.
- Act as standby person for events in case of emergencies or request for additional services that may arise.
- Act as a liaison between building and occupants/customers and Facility Services or Event Managers, including responding to concerns and comments relating to custodial and mechanical operations.
- Work as a crew leader during Wisconsin State Fair and other events for assigned shifts.
- Assign and review the work of LTE crew based on verbal/ written work order(s) provided by supervisor.
- Train, direct, and monitor work activities of LTE crew.
- Assist the supervisors of Facility Services with performance reviews, providing necessary information on employee performance under one’s lead so the supervisor can conduct an informed performance evaluation.
- Submit requisitions for goods and services to the Facility Services office.
- Drive state vehicles to designated places of work with equipment or supplies needed as authorized.
- Repair and adjust small equipment for minor breakdowns.
- Report any needed maintenance or repairs to appropriate personnel.
- Complete and return written work orders with accurate time and labor information.
- Support safety and occupational health standards and observe and comply with all safety rules and regulations established for the department.
- Notify supervisors immediately after an injury occurs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
MINNAMILY QUALIFIED APPLICANTS
- General cleaning experience, preferred.
- Baseline knowledge and understanding of standard cleaning products, preferred.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Must possess a valid Wisconsin Driver’s license
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to stay standing and/ or walking for extended periods of time with or without accommodations.
WELL QUALIFIED APPLICANTS
- Ability to work both independently and with a team.
- Previous experience with small equipment such as KaiVac, walk-behind, or rider scrubbers.
- Knowledge of custodial and maintenance “best” practices and techniques
- Knowledge of basic leadership skills and ability to provide clear directions to workers
- Knowledge of occupational hazards
- Knowledge and ability to use mobile phone devices and applications such as sending and receiving texts and taking photos
- Ability to do repetitious movements, and lift at minimum 40 pounds with or without accommodation.
