POSITION SUMMARY
Under the general supervision of the Custodial Services Operations Manager, the Facility Services Custodial Supervisor assists in overseeing custodial operations for assigned buildings and areas of Wisconsin State Fair Park. This role includes training and overseeing dual limited-term employees (LTEs) and limited-term employees in proper cleaning techniques and the use of equipment utilized by the Facility Services department. The Supervisor collaborates with Facility Services management to plan, assign, and direct various cleaning tasks, event setups, and teardowns, ensuring that all facilities and events meet the cleanliness and quality standards set by Wisconsin State Fair Park.

This role will have a schedule that is conducive to the needs of the departments and events throughout the year. This will include occasional nights and weekends.    

EMPLOYMENT TYPE
Full-Time, permanent position in the unclassified service of the State of Wisconsin.


COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This unclassified position aligns with pay schedule-range (81-05) with a starting hourly rate of $22.00 to $23.00, based upon qualifications. Overtime compensation may be awarded during certain periods of the year. This position includes a comprehensive
fringe benefits package, including pension, health insurance, and paid time off.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assist in the management of custodial services for assigned buildings and areas of the Wisconsin State Fair Park
  • Responsible for custodial maintenance activities in assigned building(s) and areas.
  • Promote and support a safe work environment in buildings, particularly during the set-up, operations and teardown of events.
  • Assign work tasks to custodial staff.  
  • Educate employees on the use of proper safety procedures and equipment.
  • Use a wide variety of tools, event equipment and cleaning equipment in a competent and safe manner to complete work assignments.
  • Conduct periodic building inspections for quality assurance of cleaning performed.
  • Prepare physical building space arrangements for events throughout the year.
  • Act as a standby person for events in case of emergencies or request for additional services that may arise.
  • Act as a liaison between building and occupants/customers, Facility Services or Event Managers, including responding to custodial and mechanical operations.
  • Communicate and provide superb customer service to on-site show promoters and vendors. 
  • Support other facility services-based operations or tasks when needed. 

Personnel Management
  • Supervise staff to ensure that the daily needs and operations of buildings and grounds are accomplished by established deadlines.
  • Provide continued training for staff with a focus on infection prevention and team cleaning.
  • Assist in implementing appropriate safety and training curriculum.
  • Plan and assigns work to be performed by cleaning crews.
  • Coach and discipline staff, as needed.
  • Assist with and perform annual reviews of staff members.

Management of Work Orders, Records, Supplies and Equipment
  • Check for needed building, equipment, and utility repairs and report repairs to appropriate management.
  • Report all work for events to ensure proper event billing is captured.
  • Maintain cleaning and maintenance supplies at a suitable level to ensure that tasks remain uninterrupted.
  • Learn the Facility Services’ work order asset management technology to receive and complete work requests.

Other Duties
  • Assists and completes other tasks assigned by management within the Facility Services Department.
     
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Professional supervisorial experience, required.
  • Knowledge of custodial and maintenance best practices and techniques.
  • Knowledge of industry safety rules and regulations.
  • Basic knowledge of reading layouts and floor plans. 
  • Experience with light equipment and machinery, including, but not limited to: forklifts, walk-behind/ ride on scrubbers, walking pallet jacks, KaiVac Cleaning System, electrostatic sprayers.
  • Experience with skid steers, front end loader, or other heavy equipment is a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of maintenance equipment, materials and their application.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemical usage and application.
  • Knowledge of infection control procedures, i.e. bio-cleaning and isolation cleaning.
  • Basic computer skills in (Microsoft Suite, specifically Excel and Outlook) or other computer/app related technology is a plus.
  • Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 lbs. with or without accommodation.
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs, climb ladders, crawl, stoop, crouch, turn, and kneel with or without accommodation.
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License.

SPECIAL NOTES
The candidate must be able to work all 11 days of the annual Wisconsin State Fair. Prior to appointment to this position, the candidate will be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check.
