POSITION DESCRIPTION
Under the general supervision of the Milwaukee Mile Track Services Manager, this position is responsible for the track safety services provided to events hosted at the Milwaukee Mile. Through various assigned roles, this position prepares equipment for and responds to emergencies during racing events.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
This position is an unclassified, Limited Term Employment (LTE) position within the State of Wisconsin employment system, working an average of 2 - 5 racing events between April and October each year. Annual hours worked in this position will not exceed 1039 hours.
COMPENSATION
The hourly rate for this role is $16.00.

Prior to appointment to this position, the candidate will be subject to a comprehensive criminal background check.
Candidates must be comfortable wearing a fire suit weighing approximately 10lbs for extended periods of time, in all weather conditions. This role is subject to potentially hazardous conditions, including outside environmental conditions, high noise levels and fast-moving objects.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist in preparing the racetrack, including moving equipment and blocks into place.
- Assist in preparing safety trucks and equipment pre-race.
- Respond to emergencies as dispatched during race events.
- Clean up spills and debris on the racetrack.
- Extinguish fires.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Ability to use a radio, listen and respond to dispatch.
- Proficient in the use of power tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must be able to sit, stand, talk, hear and use hands for manipulative tasks.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion, unassisted.
- State of Wisconsin EMS license or firefighter experience is recommended.
