Buyer - (Selecting and purchasing NPD/NPI materials and tooling)

Required Experience / Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated NPD/NPI technical procurement expertise; ability to work with engineering and manufacturing to clarify technical requirements and specifications
  • Analyze the requirements of the product needs, including preliminary specifications and bills of materials
  • Ensure all engineering requirements, which may not be well-defined, are properly communicated to all suppliers
  • Research and identify component/materials/suppliers to meet engineering and long-term production needs
  • Support sourcing, selecting and managing manufacturing partners and suppliers along with the associated products and components
  • Document and track component costs per different program phases
  • Support RFQ generation and analysis, resolving all technical inquiries
  • Generate and track all PO’s and incoming shipments
  • Assure product is delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets all quality requirements
  • Maintain timely control of orders, delivery changes, shipping notices and other documents to assure accurate records
  • Develop NPD/NPI sourcing strategies that included prototype purchases, tooling and pilot production
  • Support shipping and receiving functions as needed

Preferred Additional Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s in supply chain, finance or industrial engineering (or equivalent direct work experience)
  • At least 5 years of direct hands-on experience with procurement and sourcing, primarily in an automation/robotics environment
  • High proficiency in MS Excel/Google sheets (advanced)
  • Good knowledge of ERP/MRP with a solid understanding of discrete manufacturing, bom systems, product lifecycle management, procure to pay processes and overall supply chain operations
  • Strong experience in electrical and mechanical components/process’s (pcba’s, cables, machining, sheet metal, casting, 3D printing, injection molding, thermoforming, extrusions, etc.)
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a fast-paced start-up environment, comfortable with wearing multiple hats at once, with a keen understanding of urgency, ownership and timing
