Position Overview:
The liturgical music coordinator will act as the liaison
between the pastor and all the related stakeholders to ensure not only the smooth delivery of music, but also the development of the overall musical competency at the parish.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Practicing Catholic in good standing.
Prior experience in music ministry.
Working knowledge and experience in Catholic liturgy.
A great desire and appreciation for liturgical music.
Prior successful experience working with others to develop parish groups or programs.
Competency in both organ and piano is a plus, but not necessary.
Bachelor's Degree in music or related field is a plus, but not necessary.
Role and Responsibilities:
This role is designed for 10-15 hours/week in alignment with the pastor. The job will primarily be worked remotely with visits to the parish at the direction of the pastor, including a minimum of one Mass per weekend.
In collaboration with the pastor, choose and publish music to all stakeholders prior to Noon on the prior Wednesday.
Schedule and ensure cantors are available for all weekend Masses and specified Solemnities, as well as specified funerals and weddings at the direction the pastor.
Coordinate on a weekly basis choir practice for the 1030am Mass and for specified Solemnities and Holy Days of Obligation (below). Collaborate with the pastor and parish to develop additional choir members to enable flexibility.
Schedule and ensure instrumentalists/musicians – in collaboration with the pastor – for the Saturday evening and Sunday 9a and 1030a Masses, in addition to funerals and weddings at the direction of the pastor.
In alignment with the pastor, develop and execute a (at a minimum) monthly recruiting message and follow up for additional instrumentalists to build long term flexibility and enrichment of the Sunday liturgy.
Prepare "Liturgy Guides" (worship aids) when needed, keeping copyright requirements.
Facilitate purchase and maintenance of pew missalettes, hymnals and other special worship aids.
Facilitate and guide the maintenance and repair of all musical equipment and sound system(s).
Collaborate as needed with the School Music Teacher to enable a children’s choir to perform from time to time at a weekend liturgy.
In addition to the above, if this person plays the organ/piano at a weekend Mass the parish will pay an additional stipend per Mass.

This is a non-management position
This is a part time position
