Primary Function: The primary purpose of the Business Manager is to be a steward entrusted with management of the financial, physical and personnel resources of the parish. He/She manages the business operations of the parish and thus releases the Pastor to carry out his pastoral and spiritual responsibilities. The Business Manager must understand the vision and mission of the Cathedral’s community. The Business Manager ensures that parish assets are used efficiently and effectively in serving the Cathedral’s needs. He/She shall carry out his/her responsibilities in a manner that reflects Catholic teaching.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Understand the vision and mission of the parish under the guidance and direction of the Pastor
- Make recommendations for the vision and mission of business operations
- Ensure that assets are used efficiently and effectively
- Provide accurate financial reports to the Finance Council and to attend Finance Council meetings as directed by the Pastor
- Maintain accurate banking statements, payroll, tithing and other related financial matters
- Maintain compliancy to diocesan guidelines and policies
- Maintain compliancy with Homeland Security: Inspections/reporting/renewal of certificates
- Maintain/prepare/publish yearly budget data
- Assist Pastor with Annual Bishop Appeal mailings/Excel files of giving/thank you letters/follow up letters
- Maintain accurate records for the Diocese. Report issues or any questions to appropriate contacts to the Diocese
- Maintain accurate billing and records per Diocesan Record Retention policy
- Monthly reconciliation of banking statement. Report to designated Finance Council member appropriate reports at month’s end
- Work in conjunction with FWPD
- Oversees diocesan safe environment program for parish employees and volunteers
- Prepare annual budgets for review, revision and adoption by the Pastor and Finance Council
- Administer a system utilizing acceptable accounting principles to accurately record and reflect all financial transactions of the parish in accordance with applicable state and federal laws, Archdiocesan directives, Pastoral directives, and Finance Council requirements
- Manage bimonthly payroll
- Prepare quarterly and year-end reports reflecting the financial status of the parish for presentation to the Finance Council and submission to the Diocese per guidelines
- Assist Parish Secretary with management of weekly contributions and year end contribution tax statements
- Manage income and expenditures to ensure an adequate cash position and to meet budget requirements.
- Ensure timely payments of all invoices received
- Manage revenue and expenses generated by parish organizations as directed by the Pastor. Provide pertinent financial reports to parish organizations when requested and approved by the Pastor
- Prepare and present all financial records requested for auditing as directed by the Pastor or requesting party (Diocesan Auditor)
- Serve as the parish contact for any business operation, including Diocese
- Administer contracts and other purchasing transactions to ensure goods and services of the highest value are received and to ensure that all purchasing transactions meet legal, ethical, and moral standards
Physical Resource Management:
- Work closely with Director of Building and Maintenance. Assist in operations/vendor discussions/invoice payment/accounts receivable/state and federal compliancy with the Department of Homeland Security
- Work closely with Pastor, Director of Maintenance, and Parish Council with security issues
- Contact person for insurance liability issues
Personnel Resource Management:
- Maintain a safe, productive and pleasant work environment for collaboration, cooperation and quality performance by all personnel
- Collaborate with personnel to procure resources and materials needed to meet their job expectations
- Maintain job descriptions as directed by the Pastor and/or Pastoral Associate
- Prepare advertisements for vacant job positions as directed by the Pastor in coordination with Human Resources Direction of the Diocese of FW-SB
Business Operations Management:
- Oversee the management, retrieval, and security of the financial and sacramental records of the parish. Retrieve/create sacramental records in the absence of the Pastoral Associate/Parish Secretary
- Work in conjunction with the Diocese Insurance Company
- Oversee and ensure the effective operation of the parish computer system to support office operations and ministry needs
Leadership:
- Participate in problem solving that is respectful of the views of others and leads to the best resolution for all involved
- Attend staff meetings
- Ensure effective communication with staff/volunteers/ministries/Diocese
Miscellaneous:
- Lead contact for FWPD/Director of Homeland Security
Knowledge:
- Working knowledge and skill set in all Microsoft Suite programs: Outlook, Microsoft programs, ParishSOFT Accounting, ParishSOFT Family Suite
- Basic Accounting skills: additional training/financial background preferred

- Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Publisher
- Novice skills needed to work with OSV Hub (Our Sunday Visitor) and Diocesan Publishers
- Strong willingness to navigate and learn databases
- Proficient in proofreading and editing
- Proficient time management for completion of tasks/projects whether individual or team
- Excellent phone and emailing skills/etiquette
Decision Making Authority:
- Work in conjunction with Director of Maintenance/Pastoral Associate/Priests as needed
Budgetary or Property Responsibility: Position is fully responsible for maintaining accurate monetary accounts/budgets/reports, prompt payments of invoices received and stipends following all Diocesan rules and regulations.

- Ability to navigate through databases and their help functions to problem solve or reaching out to seek further clarification and assistance from the corresponding database
- Ability to seek outside resources for those who seek assistance
- When working with homeless population: using good judgement when to call in emergency resources

- Degree or certification in Accounting principles, is helpful but not a must
- Experience in Business Management, is helpful but not a must
- Familiarity with Connect Now or Parishsoft highly desirable.
