Job Description: Associate Director of Mission

Saint John the Baptist Parish is seeking a full-time Associate Director of Mission. This position, directly under the supervision of and in close collaboration with the Pastor, focuses on the continuation of existing ministries while simultaneously devising new ones in service of the parishioners and the community at large. This dynamic leadership position is responsible for coordinating the strategic vision for all parish ministries, ensuring they effectively meet the spiritual and corporal needs of the community and remain aligned with the Church's mission of evangelization, formation and social action. The Associate Director works collaboratively as a liaison between the priests and the leaders of the various parish teams (evangelization, catechesis, worship, vocation, outreach to the poor) to assess the effectiveness of current programs, identify areas for growth, and participate in the development and implementation of new initiatives designed to engage and address contemporary needs of the community.

  • Baptismal formation and preparation
  • Adult catechesis and continuing formation
  • Formation of marriage mentor couples
  • Youth Ministry (he/she would be the youth minister)
  • College Ministry
  • Server Training
  • Evangelization efforts
  • Special Events
  • Family Formation
  • Liaison to Parish Council teams
  • Liturgical Ministry training and scheduling
  • Arranging visits and services to the Homebound.

This position will be full-time with benefits. The hours will be flexible based on the ministries which are undertaken. The candidate must be able to work in an office setting (including standing, walking, public speaking, lifting, typing, and writing). The candidate must also meet all diocesan standards for employment.

The ideal candidate possesses soft skills and affective maturity. He or she is organized, personable, creative, and outgoing. Additionally, confidentiality and the ability to work well with others in a variety of tasks is essential. It is preferred that the candidate has some previous ministry experience as well as a BA or BS with at least a minor or concentration in Theology. The candidate must be a fully initiated and practicing Catholic who is in good standing with the Catholic Church.
