TRACK & FIELD ASSISTANT COACH

JOB SUMMARY

Position is responsible for assisting the head coach with organizing the Track & Field program at Bishop Luers High School. Position assists with conducting practices, motivating students-athletes, and instructing student-athletes in strategies and techniques.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
 
  1. Assists the Head Track & Field Coach with instructing the players in the rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques of the sport.
  2. Reports to Head Track & Field Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal.
  3. Organizes and directs individual and small group practices activities/exercises as directed by Head Coach.
  4. Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the Head Coach informed of the athletic performance of the athletes.
  5. Assists Head Coach with supervising athletes during practices and competitions.
  6. Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.
  7. Model sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards, players, officials, and spectators.
  8. Maintains the equipment room in an orderly condition and assumes responsibility for its security.
  9. Distributes equipment, supplies, and uniforms to athletes as directed by the Head Coach.
  10. Assist the Head Coach with submitting a list of award winners at the end of the season.
  11. Participate in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
  12. Performs support tasks such as distributing and maintaining eligibility forms, emergency data cards, and other related records via Final Forms.
  13. Model nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.

OTHER DUTIES
 
  1. Attends staff development meetings, clinics, and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
  2. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Athletic Director and Principal or other appropriate administrator.

  • Pass a background check and complete required IHSAA state courses.
  • Assistant coaching position is a part-time position paid by a stipend. Stipend will vary based upon years of experience.
