St. Rose of Lima Catholic School is looking for a Long-Term Substitute Teacher for Intermediate Grades (Math, Science, and Religion) for the 2025–2026 school year. This position is to cover a maternity leave from late November through mid-January. Exact start and end dates will be confirmed during the hiring process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Models and teaches Catholic doctrine, values, and morals throughout instruction and classroom management.
Delivers planned instruction in math, science, and religion to students in grades 3–5 in accordance with state and diocesan standards.
Follows and supports the curriculum and lesson plans prepared by the full-time classroom teacher, modifying as needed to meet student needs.
Maintains a structured, faith-filled, and engaging learning environment.
Uses appropriate instructional strategies, including hands-on activities, discussions, and formative assessments to monitor and support student learning.
Provides supervision in the classroom, hallways, recess, and other assigned areas.
Promotes a positive classroom culture of respect, responsibility, and collaboration.
Maintains consistent classroom routines and upholds school behavior expectations.
Communicates professionally with parents, students, and colleagues regarding student progress and classroom activities, as appropriate.
Collaborates with support staff and administration to ensure continuity of instruction and student support.
Implements safety procedures and emergency protocols as needed.
Participates in school activities and faith-based opportunities as appropriate for the term of the position.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

An Indiana teaching license or substitute permit is required; preference given to licensed teachers with experience in grades 3–5.
Experience in teaching math, science, or religion at the elementary level preferred.
Practicing Catholic strongly preferred, especially for teaching Religion.
Ability to effectively follow lesson plans and maintain continuity of instruction.
Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
Currently qualified to speak and write coherently, fluently, and grammatically correct English.
Currently physically qualified to supervise students in a classroom and school environment.

Physical Requirements:

Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, and operate classroom equipment.
May occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds.
