Elma Electronic is seeking a detail‑oriented Solderer to join our Backplane Manufacturing team. This role is ideal for someone who excels in precision electronics work, enjoys hands‑on assembly, and is confident soldering very small surface‑mount components under magnification.

What You’ll Do
  • Backplane Assembly: Follow detailed assembly documentation, mechanical drawings, and work instructions to perform soldering operations on standard and custom backplanes.
  • Surface‑Mount Soldering: Solder micro‑components including resistors, capacitors, ICs, diodes, and LEDs; accurately identify component types and verify correct placement.
  • BOM Interpretation: Read Bills of Materials, confirm component values, and recognize component package sizes (0402, 0603, 0805, 1206).
  • Quality Inspection: Conduct self‑inspection of completed work to ensure compliance with workmanship standards.
  • Rework & Repair: Perform connector, hardware, and component rework or modifications as needed.
  • Support additional assembly tasks and collaborate closely with team members and managers.
What You Bring
  • Soldering Expertise: 3–5 years of soldering experience in an electronics manufacturing environment, including comfort soldering extremely small SMT components using magnification tools.
  • Component Knowledge: Ability to identify resistors, capacitors, ICs, diodes, LEDs, and understand package sizing conventions.
  • Documentation Skills: Ability to read mechanical drawings, assembly instructions, and recognize documentation or manufacturing discrepancies.
  • Familiarity with soldering hand tools, rework equipment, and standard hardware (screws, nuts, washers).
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; knowledge of Elma Bustronic products is a plus.
Compensation
  • Hourly Rate: $28.00 – $32.00 per hour
Working Conditions
  • Hands‑on soldering up to 85% of the time, primarily seated (up to 90%).
  • Occasional lifting up to 10 lbs and light walking/standing for secondary operations.
  • ESD‑safe footwear required on the assembly floor.
  • Occasional stair climbing depending on work area access.
