As a "caretaker" of our brand's legacy, the Assembler II will produce a quality paper product by manipulating machines that form, insert, trim and fasten spiral binding for covers for booklets, pamphlets and notebooks. The Assembler II then collates the paper, plastic, cardboard, metal, cloth and other materials into a final high quality product for standard and custom orders. Additionally, the Assembler II will also safely and effectively operate the small cutter and the auto punch machines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Production
- Operate production line machinery and computers – to include the small cutter and auto punch
- Work at different workstations as production needs require
- Tend machines that perform force fitting or fastening operations on assembly line
- Work at bench as member of assembly group; assembling specific parts and passing unit to another worker
- Make adjustments to produce a product within quality specifications – rejecting products outside of specifications
- Efficiently and accurately produce custom orders as requested
- Remove or replace damaged covers and backs
- Job Completion
- Stack completed items on skid and place products in the designated transfer area for use by the next station
- Notify supervisor of malfunctions or issues with materials, supplies or products
- Complete job tracking logs and the clean work area
- Communicate with other operators, leads and supervisors regarding tasks completed and problems
- Maintenance and Safety
- Strictly follow the established rules for safety while using the various machinery, tools and supplies
- Organize and maintain the work area, machinery, tools and supplies
- Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on production line machinery
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

- Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years of experience or training in printing or related industry and the proven manual dexterity for operating machinery
- Demonstrated ability in basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Preferred Qualifications
- Language Skills: Demonstrated ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Proven ability to write simple correspondence.
- Mathematical Skills: Documented ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Reasoning Ability: Proven ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written and oral instructions.
- Computer Skills: Demonstrated ability in communication tools and computer software used in manufacturing.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position has an estimated hourly rate of $17.00 - $20.00. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
