As the senior quality engineer, you will champion the Quality Management System by designing and maintaining systems that prevent problems, by standardizing and documenting process workflows, leading root cause and corrective actions, and driving all aspects of data management. You will collaborate with and lead cross functional teams to verify conformance of manufactured components and finished products to established specifications and quality standards. Must work with the safety department to ensure all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies requirements are met, OSHA 1910, NFPA, DNR.  Must work with the quality department to ensure all quality standards are met.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to resolve quality issues that arise as quickly and efficiently as possible to prevent compromising quality and safety standards.
  • Analyze non-conformance trends to identify significant issues and to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions.
  • Advocate for and collaborate on company-wide CAPA and non-conformance implementation and continuous improvement projects.
  • Review, approve, verify effectiveness and report quality metrics on CAPAs.
  • Proactively investigate, identify and implement best-in-class Quality practices.
  • Maintain and analyze internal quality metrics and failure rate data in depth.
  • Contribute to and participate in the management oversight of the QMS.
  • Author, collaborate, and approve QMS documentation, including training, periodic review and revision.
  • Lead and perform Root Cause Analysis and problem resolution activities to help improve and sustain product quality.
  • Provide quality assurance support, input and decision making to production, manufacturing engineering, suppliers, and product engineering programs.
  • Assist in execution of audit program, including conduct internal, product and process audits, overseeing closure of resultant actions, etc.
  • Facilitate the necessary actions to contain, resolve and prevent quality failures as they occur within the daily manufacturing process. This requires ensuring that robust containment actions are taken whenever quality issues are identified to ensure that defective products are purged throughout the manufacturing system and any whole goods that are affected are quarantined.
  • Assist in defining any field actions that may be necessary because of an internal quality issue.
  • Champion the development and implementation of necessary procedures and shop floor standards. The use of Six Sigma tools, statistical techniques, capability analysis and the correct application of various gauging techniques will be essential.
  • Lead implementation of statistical techniques to control and understand our part-making processes. This includes the application of gauge R&R studies to ensure the measuring systems being used are robust as well as using capability studies to recommend ongoing gauging frequencies.
  • Communicate and work with our SQE and materials team to resolve quality issues with purchased parts.
  • Perform production parts approval process (PPAP).
  • Ability to direct peers and develop/mentor junior team members.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with all departments and levels of the organization.
  • Work with minimal oversight
  • Operate measuring instruments, borescope, camera, computer, copy machine, and telephone.
  • Support 5S initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned to achieve department and business KPI goals.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or HiSet (Formerly GED)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical field or certified ASQ/CQE (must obtain within 1 year)
  • 8+ years of on-the-job experience in quality or engineering role
  • 2+ years of leadership experience
  • Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), Globally Harmonized System (GHS) labels, Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
  • Possess basic PC skills, and have working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must wear all personal protective equipment PPE, and be able to work in hearing conservation areas as needed
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend, stooping, twist, reach, reach overhead.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift 0-20 lbs. frequently, and 21-30 lbs. occasionally.
Preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Experience in electronic quality system modules, such as EtQ
  • Good statistical experience including the application of gauge R&R, capability analysis and SPC
  • Six Sigma Green Belt minimum preferred
  • Internal auditor level understanding of ISO9001:2015
  • Ability to obtain professional designations such as Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Technician (CQT), and Certified Quality Inspector (CQI)
