Primary Function
The Demand Planning Manager works with multiple departments to minimize excess and obsolete inventory while mitigating stocks outs and supply chain disruptions. Evaluates factors such as sales data, marketing impact, distributor / retailer actions, and other events (e.g. severe weather). Maintains rolling forecasts that determine the amount of inventory to satisfy demand for the planning period.  

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
  • Maintains working knowledge of end-to-end supply chain components including forecasting, inventory management, promotional planning, basic department management, master data management, item lifecycle and disposition, seasonal planning, Distribution Center operations, supplier planning and order fulfillment
  • Lead coordination efforts with operations, product management, finance, customer service, for product families
  • Develops multiple metrics to validate forecasting accuracy, as per industry standards and communicates corrective action(s) ensures timely resolution
  • Knowledge of SAP, Syteline or similar forecasting system with the ability to Identify planning systems issues
  • Develop and implement an effective S&OP process to ensure the right level of collaboration and consensus with business Stakeholders (Finance, Sales and Production)
  • Oversee the design and preparation of forecast reporting and analysis tools for all phases of the forecast process
  • Use and maintain the Demand Planning models as the primary forecasting system tool
  • Work with both Marketing and Sales on SKU-level transition plan, track execution, identify risk, and drive agreement on corrective measures to maintain performance
  • Set up best-in-class forecasting process that leverages both systematic generation and consensus process
  • Identify and analyze sales trends and other demand influencing variables and incorporate analysis in forecasting, inventory planning, and safety stock processes
  • Develop and maintain processes for item classification for use in inventory management including stocking policies and cycle counting
  • Execute all existing analytical tools and business processes to drive sku-level forecast accuracy
  • Manage the quarterly demand review process for the company by providing the data and market specific knowledge
  • Use statistical forecast calculations, methods and models to evaluate forecast results
  • Proactively take actions to decrease lead time, inventory and logistics costs

Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field
  • 3-5 years’ experience in data mining, analysis and reporting in a manufacturing setting
  • APICS (American Production & Inventory Control Society) certification preferred
  • Proven project management ability
  • Effective written and verbal communication and the ability to multitask.
  • Understanding of supply chain processes and overall impact to the organization
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing
  • Advanced skills with MS Office Suite and ERP systems (Syteline preferred)
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stooping, twist, reach, reach overhead
  • Must be able to lift 0-20 lbs. frequently and 21-30 lbs. occasionally
  • Occasional travel, as required
