Job Title: Events Coordinator

Location: Nags Head, NC (On-Site)
Department: Marketing
Status: Full-Time, Hourly
Compensation: $19.00/hour

About the Role:
Are you the type of person who loves people and bringing fun to the world? Kitty Hawk Kites is looking for an organized, high-energy Events Coordinator to join our Marketing Team.

In this role, you will be the mastermind behind the Outer Banks’ most iconic events—from the famous OBX Kite Festivals to the KHK Summer Festivities. You won’t just be planning; you’ll be executing experiences that teach the world to fly. You will work directly with the Marketing Director to ensure every event, sponsorship, and piece of marketing material is in the right place at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

Event Planning & Execution:

Orchestrate the Fun: serve as the primary point person for the execution of all KHK events (Kite Festivals, Hang Gliding Spectacular, Brewtag, etc.). This includes site layout, vendor coordination, set-up, and tear-down.
• Project Management: Utilize Monday.com to maintain timelines, task lists, and run-ofshow schedules for the entire marketing team.
On-Site Activation: Represent Kitty Hawk Kites at third-party community events, managing our booth, engaging with the public, and supporting local partners.

Marketing Distribution & Logistics:

Manage the Paper Trail: Oversee the inventory and distribution of all physical marketing assets (Adventure Guides, Rack Cards, Flyers, and Coupons)
Vendor Management: Manage our outsourced distribution partners to ensure all local racks and hubs are fully stocked with current materials.
Accountability: Conduct spot-checks to ensure distribution partners are executing according to contract.

Community & Partnerships:

Sponsorship Management: Maintain relationships with event sponsors, ensuring all deliverables (logos on banners, shout-outs, booth spaces) are met.
Donations: Manage the incoming donation request process for the company, handling fulfillment and tracking of charitable giving.

Reporting & Finance:

The Scoreboard: Create detailed post-event summaries, tracking attendance, weather, operational wins/challenges, and ROI.
Budget Tracking: Record and code all event-related expenses to ensure we stay on
budget.

 Qualifications

Experience: 1-2 years of experience in event planning, marketing, or project management is preferred.
Tech Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required. Experience with Monday.com or similar project management tools is a massive plus.
Physical Stamina: Events are active! Must be able to lift 30+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and work outdoors in the elements (sun, wind, and sand).
Schedule Flexibility: Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays (this is when our events happen!).
Driver’s License: Valid driver’s license required for travel between event sites and store locations.

Why You’ll Love It Here

Adventure Perks: Free recreation activities (Hang Gliding, Aero Trek, Dolphin Tours, and more) for you to experience what we sell!
• Store Discounts: Great discounts on merchandise at Kitty Hawk Kites, Kitty Hawk Surf Co., and Life is Good.
• Culture: Work with a passionate team that has been teaching the world to fly for over 50 years.
