LimnoTech has an opportunity for an experienced environmental scientist or engineer to meet ongoing and expanding needs in our environmental observing systems market area. The selected candidate will work in our Ann Arbor office and provide project management, technical support, and field support and oversight to key clients in the Great Lakes region. Responsibilities
- Manage projects and provide technical leadership related to:
- Environmental sensor network design
- Environmental sampling design with attention to quality assurance plans
- Data analysis and reporting support
- Environmental research on lakes, rivers, and wetlands
- Technical and strategic project work in the above and other areas including fieldwork primarily in Michigan and Ohio, though travel across the Great Lakes region and US on ocassion.
- Support business development in LimnoTech’s growing observing systems practice area:
- Identify leads and develop proposals, scopes, and budgets
- Support vision for continued growth in practice area
- Support fieldwork and oversight of field staff. Most field sites are within 50 miles, but overnight travel may be required for some projects.
- This position is located at the Ann Arbor office and is expected to report in-person 5 days a week.
Required Qualifications
- 3 or more years of experience in environmental consulting, corporate, non-profit, or research fields
- Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering with focus on natural systems (environmental, marine, biology, ecology)
- Project or team management experience
- Strong technical skills in hydrology/water quality/ecosystem assessment and/or modeling.
- Experience in data analysis (MS Excel, Google Sheets, databases) and statistics
- Strong communications skills (verbal, written), effective at synthesis of technical information to a broad audience.
- Must be legally able to work in the U.S. for any employer (proper documentation is required).
- Able to lift 25 lb and able to support environmental fieldwork on occasion.
Desired Additional Qualifications
- Master’s degree in science or engineering applied to environmental systems or sensing
- Proposal development experience
- Interest in business development and an established network of professional contacts
- Experience with environmental monitoring technologies
- Experience with observing system design and implementation
- Experience writing state, federal, or foundation grants
- Cross-disciplinary education in environmental science/liberal arts/business
- Able to lift 50 lb and work independently on environmental sensor and fieldwork on occasion.
