Special Needs Caregiver – Feeding Therapy Focus

Location: Ringoes, NJ
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Hours: Guaranteed 30 hours/week (with potential for additional hours)
Compensation: Starting at $35/hour, based on experience

We are seeking a compassionate and highly skilled Special Needs Caregiver with expertise in feeding therapy to work with a bright and loving 7-year-old autistic child. The child is non-speaking and presents with extremely restricted eating patterns, likely ARFID (Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder).

This is a meaningful opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a long-term impact by supporting a child’s growth in a supportive, home-based environment. Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, and Developmental Therapists are welcome to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and support feeding therapy interventions in coordination with the family’s care team
  • Facilitate play-based developmental learning
  • Support communication through alternative methods (AAC experience is a plus)

  • Build a consistent, nurturing relationship to promote trust and progress

Ideal Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with feeding therapy and ARFID
  • Background in special education, early intervention, ABA, or developmental therapy
  • Training in DIR/Floortime or other relationship-based therapy approaches
  • Ability to provide 3–5 professional references

  • Excellent communication skills and a warm, patient demeanor

Additional Information:

  • Retired nurses with pediatric or developmental experience are strongly encouraged to apply
  • Flexibility for additional hours based on therapist availability and family needs

  • Long-term collaboration preferred
