Pacific Shipyards International is searching for a Crane/Rigging Supervisor to join our ship repair team in Hawaii. 

Position Title:     Crane/Rigging Supervisor
Reports To:         Mechanical Superintendent  
Location:             Honolulu, Hawaii

Position Summary:
Pacific Shipyards International (PSI) is the largest privately owned shipyard in Hawaii, with two of the largest dry docks in the state. We have been in business since 1944 and have a large labor force of skilled craftsman with a full support staff of professionals who comprise of engineering, project management, QA, EHS, accounting, contracts, and human resources.
We are seeking an experienced Crane/Rigging Supervisor to supervise and direct day-to-day execution of activities and assigned projects including rigging and crane operations and subcontract workers in ship repair work.  Responsible for safety, quality, schedule, and budget of all assigned work.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Works closely with the Project Manager(s) to ensure timely and cost-efficient completion of projects and/or jobs.
  • Plans, manages, executes projects involving in trade with department personnel and customers.
  • Establishes safe working environment and enforces established safety policies as outlined by company policy OSHA, HIOSH, state and federal laws, and EPA.
  • Estimates, calculates, and forecasts labor costs and manpower needs for projects.
  • Communicates with internal and external customers, contractors, and subcontractors to build and maintain solid relationships.
  • Oversee the operations of the department including work performed and employees within the department.
  • Estimates time, manpower, and materials required for assigned jobs.
  • Assesses team member skills and provide necessary training opportunities as required to enhance or address deficiencies.
  • Handle various administrative duties such as report writing, performance reviews, responding to email, interviews candidates, and form completion.


Education/Training Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Valid NCCCO-TLL Crane Certification.
  • Minimum of 5 years of crane/rigging experience.
  • Supervisory experience with managing 5-10 personnel preferred, in periodic maintenance and inspections of crane and rigging equipment.
  • Familiar with drafting and submitting lift plans.
  • Familiar with NAVFAC P-307
  • Familiar with CFR/OSHA/AMSE instructions as it permits to crane and rigging.
  • NCCCO MLD, Lift director for mobile cranes is ideal.
  • CDL “B” or “A” is ideal.
  • Able to meet the requirements of DOT physical.
  • Proficient with Word and Excel.
  • Must be flexible in work hours.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in shipyard heavy industry is required.
  • Basic knowledge of Federal Contracts.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Interpersonal skills, good attitude, and exceptional work ethic.
  • Work requires establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.


Qualification/Requirements:
  • Must show proof of your legal right to work in the United States and US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access.
  • Must be able to successfully obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to Navy Base.
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and a background check before employment begins. Failure to complete any of these steps will result in disqualification.
  • Valid State of Hawaii drivers’ license in good standing, class 3 or higher.
