Pacific Shipyards International (PSI) is searching for an
Estimating Coordinator
to join our ship repair team in Hawaii.

Position Summary

PSI is the largest privately owned shipyard in Hawaii, with two of the largest dry docks in the state. We have been in business since 1944 and have a large labor force of skilled craftsman with a full support staff of professionals who comprise of engineering, project management, QA, EHS, accounting, contracts, and human resources.

We are seeking an Estimating Coordinator to join our Programs Division. The position will report to the Estimating Manager and is responsible for providing high-level organizational support to the Estimating Department.

The ideal candidate will have a strong administrative background, exceptional customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written. The candidate must also be comfortable interacting with a variety of different departments, have strong critical thinking skills, is self-motivated, flexible and adaptable, and is able to perform well in fast-paced work environments.

The Estimating Coordinator must be detail-oriented, have the ability to multitask, a quick-learner and have strong computer skills, to include experience with Microsoft Office Programs.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Perform administrative duties such as acknowledging receipt of emails and quotes, organizing references, coordinating department meetings, initializing project files, and account codes
  • Send, receive, and document subcontractor requests for quotes
  • Maintain and update the Department proposal log and other spreadsheets/reports
  • Receive and disseminate customer requests for proposals, monitor government websites for potential opportunities
  • Respond to subcontractor questions/inquiries, via email or phone
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments with excellent accuracy
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Training/Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of administrative/clerical experience, preferably in the shipyard industry is desirable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, great attitude and work ethic, and exceptional teamwork skills

Qualification/Requirements:
  • Adaptable to work schedule flexibility is highly desired
  • Must show proof of legal right to work in the United States and US Citizenship due to security clearance required for base access
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) and a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Credential to gain access to Navy base
  • All candidates must submit to and pass a post-offer drug screening and background check
  • Valid State of Hawaii drivers’ license in good standing, class 3 or higher
