Maintenance Associate

The Rescue Mission of Trenton is seeking a Maintenance Associate. The position is supervised by the Manager of Facilities and plays a critical role in conducting and coordinating custodial work within the agency. 

In addition to routine and non-routine custodial work, the position works with the agency’s Environmental Services Unit to help create our “Culture of Clean”.

Rescue Mission of Trenton was founded in 1915 and is a non-profit organization that helps rescue people from themselves and their situations.  Our dedicated staff in the Shelter and our Behavioral Health Unit offer care, support and encouragement to all that reside here. Qualified Candidates will:
•    Have experience maintaining physical facilities to ensure client, staff and customer safety and adherence
     to all applicable building, fire, safety and sanitary codes 
•    Be able to perform highly diverse duties to install and maintain machines and the facility’s equipment
•    Have experience providing scheduled/unscheduled/emergency repairs to equipment or facilities
•    Have performed regular preventative maintenance on equipment or facilities
•    Have performed mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic,
     trouble shooting and repair of machines or equipment
•    Have experience reading and interrupting equipment manuals and work orders to perform required
     maintenance and service

Other Qualifications For Position:
High School diploma or Associates degree, required OR
Equivalent life experience required if educational qualifications not met OR                        
Minimum 1-2 years experience in maintenance and/or engineering field
Critical thinking, equipment maintenance and selection, visualization, facility, repairing
Ability to Troubleshoot
Ability to lift over 50 pounds.
Basic knowledge of usage of Microsoft Office (Word an Excel)
A valid driver's license                            

Position Details:
Custodial
•    Clean assigned building areas daily (bathrooms, showers, toilets, floor, Carpet, etc)
•    Regularly check premises and perform necessary “light” maintenance tasks
•    Perform heavy duty cleaning tasks and projects
•    Inspect the premises and report any issues or repairs to supervisor
•    Perform small repairs as needed

Maintenance & Documentation
•    Maintains records of receipts, supply purchases as required
•    Maintains buildings’ documentation to ensure clean, orderly, and safe conditions and the documentation of
     regular inspections

Safety
•    Works with supervisor to ensure all safety regulations are being followed 
•    Ensures agency meets OSHA requirements 
•    Completes regular safety checklist 
•    Immediately reports any deficiencies in safety or mechanical operations
•    Detects faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to supervisor
•    Maintains clean and orderly work areas
•    Maintains an inventory of all tools and power tools
•    Develops a log of equipment by facility 

Physical Facilities
•    Performs a variety of plumbing maintenance and carpentry functions
•    Uses hand/power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties
•    Assists in maintaining physical facilities as necessary to ensure client, staff and customer safety and 
     adherence to all applicable building, fire, safety and sanitary codes
•    Performs regular preventative maintenance on equipment or facilities
•    Reads and interrupts equipment manuals/work orders to perform maintenance and service

Vocational and Volunteer 
•    Assists in supervision and training of clients in vocational work programs
•    Performs other duties as assigned

Possible Schedule:  Afternoon to Early Evening Wednesday-Sunday 
Rate: $19  per hour plus a comprehensive benefit and training package
