IT Works Instructor - Nashville, TN
We are seeking a IT Works Instructor in Nashville, TN, area who will play a key role in successfully developing and delivering our classes in the region. Tech Impact operates proven IT training programs designed to help young adults 18 to 26 years old launch their careers through IT Works.  The programs consist of intensive classroom training followed by a paid internship and job placement assistance.  Students also receive career guidance, mentoring, and valuable life skills to help them succeed in their new careers, with offices in Philadelphia, PA; Wilmington, DE; Washington, DC; Las Vegas, NV; and soon-to-be Nashville, TN.

Summary Of Position 
 IT Works is a technology training program for young adults, 18-26 years old, who have a GED or high school diploma but have not completed college. The program consists of 11 weeks of intensive classroom training followed by a technology certification and a 5-week internship inside the IT department at a for-profit or nonprofit organization.   Students work toward their Cisco IT Essentials classroom certification and CompTIA A+ professional certification. Students also receive intensive career guidance, mentoring, and valuable life skills that will help them succeed in their new careers.   
 
IT Works provides these students with an experience that will help improve their income potential for life.  All these services are provided free of charge to the student and are supported by the generosity of corporations, foundations, and individual donors. Our students are driven and full of potential, and this program represents an opportunity for a promising career in technology.

  • Salary Range –$45,000- $48,000 Salary Commensurate to your Experience 

Duties & Responsibilities  
We are looking for a technology-experienced individual who can both transfer their knowledge to a group of eager students and work with our great team to help match those students with opportunities in the technology field. 
 
We currently run the program in three cities and will train you in what you will need to be successful for our start up program in Nashville, TN.  You should have an affinity for technology and a history of experience with it. 
 
Instruction 
  • Prepare students for successful achievement of industry certifications.  
  • Have a strong sense of accountability for student achievement. 
  • Familiarity with online instructional platforms (WebEx, Zoom, etc) and LMS. 
  • Create a positive classroom environment and foster learning.  Work tirelessly to keep our students motivated and help them create belief in themselves.   
  • Have the ability to adjust instructional strategies in order to reach the program’s goals. 
Technology Support 
  • Prep program laptops by working with team to ensure consistent deployment with appropriate software. 
  • Maintain a small classroom network with internet connectivity. 
Student Recruitment, Volunteer, and Internship Support  
  • Support the applicant recruitment and interview process. 
  • Support volunteers to deliver “Friday Session” professional and life-skills trainings. 
  • Be able to guide real-world scenarios that are outside of “core” course of study. 
  • Ensure students’ technical skills meet the needs of internship partners.  
  • Assist with internship coordination, interviews, time tracking, and site visits.  
  • Help maintain healthy and productive internship partnerships. 
  • Organized tracking of student documents, student data, phone calls, and logging information into databases, etc.  

Essential Skills  
  • Have the ability to successfully complete Cisco Certified Instructor training and CompTIA A+ certification, if not already attained. 
  • Minimum of three (3) years of practical experience within the last seven (7) years in the subject area.  
  • Hold a high school diploma or GED and a certificate of completion from a postsecondary institution. Additional years of documented experience in the subject area may be substituted for the postsecondary educational requirements.
