Job Title: Lead Metal Roofer
Position Overview: The Lead Metal Roofer will play a crucial role in the installation and maintenance of roofing systems on our commercial and residential projects. This position involves setting up project sites, coordinating crews, and ensuring that each project meets our high-quality and safety standards. As a Lead Roofer, you'll work closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to meet daily goals and maintain an efficient, safe, and productive work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Setup & Planning: Set up job sites with required equipment and establish daily production goals with Project Managers.
- Safety Management: Identify and correct safety concerns, ensuring compliance with company standards and OSHA requirements for all crew members.
- Daily Operations: Lead and direct crew members to achieve project objectives, while coordinating with General Contractors and clients.
- Jobsite Protection: Safeguard all materials, equipment, and building contents during project work.
- Roof Installation & Repairs: Oversee the installation of metal roofing systems and accessories; troubleshoot and resolve installation issues.
- Team Training & Development: Conduct daily toolbox talks, train crew members on roofing techniques, and guide them toward personal growth and technical proficiency.
- Quality Control: Maintain roof appearance and integrity throughout and after project completion, assigning tasks as necessary.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete and submit all job reports, including daily logs and look-ahead plans, in a timely manner.
- Tool Operation: Proficiently use hand and power tools relevant to metal roofing installation, including adherence to manufacturers’ installation guidelines.
- Communication: Maintain effective written and verbal communication with Project Managers and Superintendents.
- Physical Requirements: Lift up to 80 lbs., operate heavy equipment, work at heights, and climb ladders up to 40 feet.
Requirements & Skills:
- Valid Driver’s License: Maintain a safe driving record.
- Safety Compliance: Follow company policies, OSHA guidelines, and manufacturer specifications.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read blueprints, troubleshoot metal roofing layouts, and perform basic math.
- Professionalism: Maintain a clean appearance, follow company dress codes, and meet company standards on all job sites.
- Certifications: Forklift operator and Aerial Work Platform (AWP) certifications, as well as required roofing hand tools.
- Work Conditions: Comfortable working outdoors in extreme temperatures, in construction settings, and on ladders or rooftops.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Team Management: Lead and train a crew of 5-10 members, conducting performance reviews and promoting skill development.
- Electronic Communication: Use digital tools to document work and communicate via email, as needed.
- Accountability: Demonstrate improvement in personal and crew knowledge, maintain vehicle and tool cleanliness, and adhere to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) guidelines.
