Laser Operator (Charlotte, NC)

Skilled Trades Services is now hiring an experienced Hankwank Laser Cutting Operator for a full-time opportunity in Charlotte, NC.

We are specifically seeking candidates with experience operating industrial laser cutting machines, including but not limited to:

• Hankwank (HK)

• Bystronic

• Trumpf

• Mitsubishi

• Cincinnati

• Amada

This position requires previous hands-on experience with laser cutting machines, waterjets, metal shears, or saws.

Operate advanced laser cutting machinery to fabricate high-precision metal components in line with strict quality and efficiency standards. Maintain machine health, follow production instructions, and support operational flow in a fast-paced industrial setting.

• Set up, operate, and maintain laser cutting and metal fabrication machinery

• Interpret drawings, nests, and programs to determine material type, tolerances, and production requirements

• Load materials using cranes, sheet lifts, or forklifts

• Inspect completed workpieces using calipers and other precision measuring tools

• Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on machinery

• Label, tag, and prepare completed parts for shipping

• Support production flow by staging parts and assisting in related shop tasks

• Comply with all OSHA and company safety standards

• Minimum 5 years of experience operating CNC or laser cutting equipment

• High school diploma or GED required

• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic computer proficiency

• Forklift certification and OSHA safety training (preferred)

• Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools

• Familiarity with decimals, fractions, geometry, and trigonometry

• Must lift up to 55 lbs and work in physically demanding conditions

• Comfortable with repetitive tasks, overhead reaching, bending, and kneeling

• Willingness to work in variable weather conditions (indoor and outdoor exposure)

• Must use proper PPE and follow strict safety protocols at all times

• Full-time position, Monday–Friday, with overtime as needed
