CDTA is seeking a strategic, hands-on Director of Facilities to oversee the planning, construction, maintenance, and long-term stewardship of the organization’s facilities portfolio. This portfolio includes transit centers, administrative offices, maintenance garages, and street amenities. The role leads capital construction initiatives, asset lifecycle planning, and reliability efforts that directly support the delivery of safe and dependable public transportation throughout the Capital Region. The Director partners closely with executive leadership to ensure infrastructure investments align with long-term service growth and sustainability goals.

The role leads capital construction initiatives, asset lifecycle planning, and reliability efforts that directly support the delivery of safe and dependable public transportation throughout the Capital Region. The Director partners closely with executive leadership to ensure infrastructure investments align with long-term service growth and sustainability goals.
What You’ll Do
- Act as CDTA’s representative for capital construction and major renovation projects
- Establish asset lifecycle and capital replacement strategies
- Develop and manage operating and capital budgets
- Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs across all building systems while minimizing service disruptions
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary facilities team supporting 24/7 transit operations
- Drive sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives
- Coordinate with executive leadership to provide reporting and align projects with the goals of the authority
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, NYS Building Code, and other federal regulations
- Lifecycle-focused asset management and planning
- Strong contractor oversight and project execution
- Balanced operational urgency with long-term asset preservation
- Effective leadership through modernization and change
- Alignment of infrastructure planning with organizational strategy
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or related field
- 5+ years facilities leadership experience
- 5+ years managing construction or capital projects
- Knowledge of building systems
- Experience managing budgets and public procurements
- Public sector or transportation environment experience
- CMMS experience
- Energy management or sustainability programs
- BOMA, IFMA, PMP, PE, or CCM certification
- Capital projects delivered on schedule and within budget
- Reliability of critical systems supporting continuous operations
- Audit and safety compliance performance
- Cost control and asset lifecycle optimization
- Reduction in emergency repairs and downtime
- Visible impact on regional transportation infrastructure
- Stable public sector leadership role
- Long-term capital investment planning authority
- Collaborative executive leadership team
